Hey Everyone:
I did post this in a new thread, but thought someone in here might know other options I would have: I have a expressvu satellite dish - single lnbf I believe (older one - 1999), and there are two cables running from it into my boiler room. In my boiler room I have a regular type splitter specifically made for satellite signals that has two inputs for the two cables coming from the dish and four outputs that go to four different rooms (everything was pre-wired when the house was built). I currently have two 2700's, a 3100 and a 5900. I would like to replace a 2700 with a 9200, but the room that it is in of course only has one cable going to it. Is there anyway without having to run cables that I can hook-up the 9200 and get all the features (PIP, record 2 shows and watch a 3rd pre-recorded, etc.) Thanks |

You need a Dishpro Twin, a DPP44 switch and a seperator. You also may need a new dish if yours doesn't have the Y-adapter for the LNB.

Also does anyone have a diagram of how this would work? |

You will need all of it if you want HD on the 9200. Otherwise, why bother?
The new dish with Dishpro Twin can be mounted on your existing mast. Connect your two existing RG6 to this new LNB. In the boiler room, hook up the DPP44 in place of your current switch. The DPP44 needs to be near a 110V outlet since it has a power inserter. Hook up the lines running to your other rooms to the outputs on the DPP44. Make sure you hook your 3100 or 5900 to the output the power inserter is connected to. In the room where you are installing the 9200, connect the seperator to the line coming from the wall. Run two short RG6 cables from the seperator to the two inputs on the 9200. Run a check switch on all receivers. Total cost - about $150 - based on prices on ebay. |

Can I mount the multi switch away from the dish (9220)? I would like to mount it in the basement about 30' away from the dish. Some say it has to be at the dish, some say it doesnt matter??? thanks for your help

wallman - if you are not going HD (which I've done with my 9200 for the last year and just upgraded to HD with the purchase of a new tv), you need two lines from the multiswitch to the 9200 (one for each tuner in the 9200) and all should be good.
camdirt - that should be fine. My dish is on the roof of a 2-storey house and the sw44 is in the basement and it works great. |

I am sure this has been answered before but with the single tuner line would I be able to get both 82 and 91? Or would I have to run two lines to get both?
I currently have a 9200 which was setup by Bell. The installer installed all 4 lines coming in and is using two out for the 9200. If I wanted to get another HD receiver only with HD I know I need 82 but would I have to run two lines to it then merge it? Thanks |

If you get the regular HD receiver (Not the pvr), you only need one cable to it. The sw44 switch installed by Bell will provide you both 82 and 91 but obviously with only one tuner you will not be able to do PIP functions. The receiver automatically sends a code to the switch when you change from a channel on 82 to one on 91.
I have the exact setup but with a non HD additional receiver (old 4500) and I get 91 and 82 (only the non HD channels for this receiver).

No, if you're using the equipment that comes with the 9200, it would be four cables from the dish to the SW44 switch (included in the box). Then two cables from your SW44 switch to the 9200 and one cable from the SW44 to your single tuner receiver. That leaves room for one additional single tuner receiver if you need it.

I currently have a 3100 and 6100. Because of site lines, I have two dishes and the one for HD is a LONG way from the other. When it was installed, there was a single line run from the HD to the other disk [on the roof] and from there the two signals 82 and 91 were joined into one line for my 6100 [I think with a SW21 switch according to the book - I haven't climbed up on the roof to check yet]. Then there is another line running separately into the house for the 3100. I have read a lot of these posts and from Ken's post "9200 Installation 101", it seems like all I would need it 123254 Separator just before my received, then connect the two outputs to the two inputs of the 9200.
If this is so, why are there so many threads talking about running two or more lines in for the 9200? Wouldn't this be the cheapest and easiest way? Because I am confused I haven't bought the new 9200, and now that I have read more, not sure if it makes any difference if it is a 9200 or 9220. Thanks for you help. |

stormrider,
xx20 just means a dish comes in the package. To use a separator you need to use a DPP lnb which is hard to find in canada. ebay would be your friend. IMO the best setup would be. Leave both dishes where they are and run 2 lines from each of them into the house. connect all 4 into a SW44 switch which comes with the 92xx package. Then run 2 lines into the 9200 and one line each each of your other receivers. Joe |

Q,
Are you saying that my unit could not have a DPP Inb? And if it is not, what do I have? If I purchased this unit, does it then replace the one I have for the HD dish? Thanks again for your help. |
