In Deadline at Dawn, a lurid yet fascinating murder mystery from 1946, actress Lola Lane plays sloppy drunk Edna. She answers the door, sees her blind ex-husband and inquires sarcastically, "Why, Sleepy Parsons, aren't you dead yet."

I didn't know what to expect, but " Appointment With Danger " is a fine noir from Olive Films. Alan Ladd's performance is one of his best, with Jack Webb and Harry Morgan ( Dragnet ) playing gangland henchmen. Jack Webb's acting is reminiscent of George Raft (not a compliment), but I rather enjoyed his character as a heavy. PQ is decent to good, and there are no extras on the dvd. Recommended for noir fans.
