Question The movie that gave you nightmares?

There was one I will never forget. I was just a kid, but it worried me for MONTHS. "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

40 years later, after many movies, it was "The Missing" with Tommy Lee
Jones. So brutal.

How about you?

Mine wasn't a movie, but the Twighlight Zone episode "It's a Good Life".

The scene where the man gets turned into a Jack-in-the-box freaked me out for weeks.

I remember that jack-in-the-box one. And you know, the special effects back in the 1950's were pretty lame, but they were still scary. That idea
that if you fell asleep, your body was taken over by aliens was pretty revolutionary back then.

Two for me in particular:

Black Christmas

It came out some time in the 70's, I saw it when I was young and I still look up when I walk by the attic.

Open Water

I simply lived in this movie the whole time it was on. I felt like I was there and couldn't imagine what it would have felt like to be left in the middle of the ocean.

Open Water is on TMN in June, I believe in HD. Perhaps it's on MC too, or already has been.

Halloween was pretty scary the first time around. Saw it with friends and we kept scaring each other during the movie.

"The Believers". 1987. Martin Sheen. Helen Shaver. It's about a voodoo cult and child sacrificing. It was scary because unlike slasher flicks, this one had a ring of believability to it.

The first time I saw Silence of the Lambs it freaked me out too. But not as much as the The Believers did.

The Tingler(sp), Black Sunday, the boris karloff-Frankinstein, there were others back then too.
They freaked me out so much I haven't watched a scary movie since!

Generally I have issues with zombie movies. But the most recent one that gave me nightmares was "The Ring." I'd be sorta half asleep, and all of a sudden think "did my TV just turn on to snow?"

I had to take my TV out of the bedroom for a week because of it.

I wouldn't have thought that was worth is being that it was shot on DVCam. I've seen porno movies with higher quality video.

Mine was probably the first nightmare on elm st. The scene where the woman is being gutted on the ceiling of her bedroom. and the thought that if you fall asleep he'll get you.

Nightmare on elm street was scary as a kid, amityville horror.

My wife was terrified of the blair witch project.......I made her believe it was a real tape......etc.

The worst for me.......and I still don't like watching it is......Poltergeist.

The little girl and the snow on TV are etched in my mind. CAROLAN.....
