Default Play structure antenna

Today i bring you the play structure antenna.
It's for testing the 4228HD hack, this is temporary as you can tell from the tie wraps...

No need for a rotor...just ask the kids to move the antenna when they climb up the ladder to go down the slide

Interesting install thepawel. How did you get access to the roof of your building? What are you doing to ground the antenna?

Roger, theawel's pictures look like the flat roof of a series of single family/duplex/triplex attached or semi-detached homes, quite common in Montreal. You can tell by the white flashing that covers the extension of the cinder-block firewall between units.

Jase88, that blue tote bag is probably not for a six-pack, right? Actually after zooming in with my browser I see that it is a blue bucket that appears to be on a pulley. I've climbed using satchels and even a backpack and found them too restricting, but a pulley is a must for hauling stuff up and down and an open bucket on it full of tools and stuff makes a lot of sense.

Default My New Install - Oshawa

Well I did it.. put up a 30' tower plus 10' mast with a CM4228 + CM7778 Pre Amp for OTA. The other two antenna's are for my police scanners, one yagi 800 Mhz pointed towards York/Peel Regions and a omnidirectional U/V mag mount for Bell Fleetnet reception.... Total cost.. around $900.. well worth it.. will pay for itself within the year

It passed the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) as the view from the street is minimal.

WZ1, one question, why the long mast above the top tower section? You are better off with more tower sections. If you are at the maximum number of sections above the bracket, using a long mast is an even worse violation.

Good idea about putting a tower in the back yard for WIF though. I will have to consider that option.

roger, in Ottawa you would have to put your tower in the back yard anyways due to bylaws Unfortunately I don't think we in Ottawa could put a tower so close to the neighbor as this one. I've considered putting one just like this, about the same distance, same location but I couldn't meet the bylaw if I did. I hope you guys are fine in your area, I like the setup !

You can go 20 feet above the house bracket, not including the mast... his install looks fine to me. .

It is secure, the guys who installed the main tower indicated the 20 foot rule was correct, this would be no more than 15 above the bracket. I have climbed it and had no issues and im a bit over 200 Lbs. As for bylaw, there is no bylaw in Oshawa concerning antenna towers as long as they are under 60' and not at the front of your house. I also checked with my neighbours (not that I really care or that they would have changed my mind) to be nice... that helps.. funny enough both of them want to do the same thing now when I demo'd the 30+ HD channels.

One thing about Oshawa is there are a ton of old houses and almost all of them have towers.

True, though I was comparing it to a roof top antenna, which is permitted.
