Default Canadian Long Distance providers - offers, rates, 10-10/10-15, etc..

I ll start...

I like to keep a close eye on all those telecommunication companies and their long distance offers - be those: Direct Dialing, dial-around (with local or tall free access numbers), 10-10/10-15s, etc...

I ll start with couple of those:

Wintel (still Wintel ..but Primus bought it a while back) offers now a plan called "Call 25" (i think)) .. - Where any phonecall to USA or Canada is 25 cents (regardless of it's duration - be it 1 minute only or several hours (hehe - if you don't hang up the phone)
To get this deal - you have to give Wintel your Direct Dialing (that is Wintel will become your primary Direct Dialing long distance provider)
Also small details of this offer - 25 cents a phone call - you ll need to dial your local access number first and then the North American ph # that you need to call...
If on this plan..and you ll dial "direct dialing" phone call for some reason - then the phone call will cost you 50 cents (again - regardless of it's duration).. so maybe not so bad also for some people who are lazy to use local dial-ups but want to place long phone call to US or Canada..
With this Plan - they got International Rates too
Wintel has few other plans as well.....
.............

Just recently this company caught my eye with their prices also:

Lucky call - if using their 101-8888 access thingy (where available) get those rates for example:

45 mins for .99 cents - Across Canada and USA
30 mins for .99 cetns - examples: China, Israel, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, U.K. etc
20 mins for .99 cents - many Countries...

Prices beat Looney Call ( or whatever their name is - 10-15 something.. sister company of another 10-15 service.. Yak one... )

...............

Telehop - if they become your Direct Dialing Long Distance provider - you ll get following rates (when direct dialing) :

Canada - 3 cents a min - 24/7
USA - 4 cents a min - 24/7
Israel - 5 cents a min - 24/7
Russia (all over russia .. same rate all over russia) - 7 cents a min - 24/7
Jamaica - 20 cents a min - 24/7
Jamaica (cell) - 20 cents a min - 24/7
Ukraine - 21 cents a min - 24/7
Mexico - 10 cents a min - 24/7

When on this plan - No administrative, Network, service or any other hidden charges whatsover...
If choose to receive your Bill via Email - No charge
If choose to receive a phisical Bill, (paper bill that comes via Canada Post Mail) - 1 dollar a month (or maybe even 2 dollars a month.. i forgot now).. BUT - if you are over age of 65 - then it's FREE

Telehop also has a 10-10 thingy (10-10-620 i think.. ) - where rates are somewhat higher....

.............
Well that's it for now... but it's a Start...

Any comments, additions, etc are welcome... .. I ll tell you one thing though - there are lots of communication companies in Canada.. Go to CRTC www site.. and you can find there .. the whole list of them.. 100s of them

I started using 10-15-945 about 2 or 3 years ago when Telus decided I should pay them $4 per month for the privilage of paying 9˘ per minute with them. Now I pay 5˘ per minute. (Canada and US- 24/7)

It shows up on my Telus bill, and it's quick and easy.

ya.. those 10-10s , 10-15s ..etc - show up on your local Bill - be it Telus, MTS, etc...

Yak - Yak by the way also - 5 cents a minute.. 10-10-925 i think...

But Lucky Call one - 45 min for 99 cents - above is almost 2 cents a minute ( of course - if only talk for 1 minute - still have to pay 99 cents )

But then again - hehe - Wintel's 25 cents a phone call - is pretty good also (regardless of duration.. and no 4 dollars a month charge , etc)

and might want to look at this Telehop drect dialing..
- charges and Canada - 3 cents a minute, where USA is 4 cents a minute .. 24/7..
Still cheaper then the 10-15-945 that you are using currently...

What is the company name by the way ..for this 10-15-945 thingy?

That's Yak's second number. They had 10-10-925, then lost it and went to 10-15-945. Then they got 10-10-925 back, but kept both numbers.

I had used those $1 per call things before, but if I hit an answering machine it still costs me $1.

Plus, I like being able to say "well, I gotta go before I rack up my phone bill......"

Note that Primus' "unlimited" is limited to 3000 minutes a month. Still plenty for most people (100 minutes a day), but something to be aware of. Several threads on this site regarding this. (VoIP - different topic really).

some quotes from the flyer:

"A lot of unlimited plans out there actually impose limits on your calling. This oen is the real deal"

"Finally it's here.. Genuinely unlimited long distance calling to anywhere in the Country"

"Introducing Truly Unilmited Canada from Primus"

"Calling the U.S. too? - Truly Unlimited N.America is also available for only 24.95/month"

......
By the way - in another thread on this board.. - i think the original poster was talking about Business long distance..
This is Residencial one... and this offer is Brand New also

Nope, it was a residence discussion (he was in business and Primus (and others) viewed over 3000 minutes as being "business.").

Getting off the track of this thread again, but I wanted to clarify.

Ok. could be...

Just to add something else though - just got off the phone with Primus (called customer service.. but by mistake got the other line, where they sign up people to new deals, etc).. the CSR told me - their new offer is TRULY unlimited one (no 3000 minute limits, etc whatsoever.. 19.95 Canada .. and 24.95 - both USA and Canada...
I double-asked..and she assured me - No Limits..

Then just for the heck of it - i asked her if this is Residential only offer or for Businesses as well ..and She replied: "Residential long distance only"

By the way..
Maybe i do not read other thread properly.. - but he mentions there Vonage and Primus (.. so maybe it's VoIP ..and not just a regular land line's direct dialing).... - He has it posted in Internet Telephony section after all...

I was refering (their new plan) to the normal phone.. and NOT to the Internet Telephony ..
Not sure about Internet Telephony Unlimited plan(s)

OK, that's clearer now. The other thread (and I) were discussing VoIP (see post 6 - mentioned VoIP).

Anyway, something to be aware of... Thanks for sticking with the discussion.

Be careful with YAK... if you call a cell phone chances are the price is higher...

I learned that last month... I called my parents in Portugal thinking that it was .19cents a minutes, but because they have cell phone only (normal in Portugal) and suddenly it cost me .38cents/minute on my bill. Don't use them anymore, prefer to use 3web long distance plan.

yes of course - international Cell rates - vary from country to country (with some countries the rate is the same as a land line.. but with others.. it's WAY more then the land line)
Even same if one is using those Phone Cards that are sold in grocery stores, etc...

Ya.. 3 web long distance.. - among other rates that they offer - Canada/US is 4 cents a minute with them 24/7 .. BUT .. they got 2.95 monthy network fee
Still though - if i chose to go to 3 web high speed Cable Internet (here in Western Canada) - i ll probably give them my direct dialing long distance.. for some extra savings.. (for first few months anyhow.. then i ll see)

We use "Telehop" for all our long distance calls, 3 scents a min any time (not sure if it is outside Canada)

We have been using Telehop for 7 yrs now and "Never" had a problem or mistake on our bill!, no monthly fee for this service either :-)
