According to CFRA, the new name is "The Source"

In reality, is Radio Shack/The Source even relevant anymore? Anything I need there I can get cheaper at BB or FS.

The full name includes by Circuit City and is on the new logo but I'm sure it will be shortened in advertising.

see logo here (those radio waves really make it authentic!)

For legal and trademark reasons, I'm sure they couldn't use just the source.

With a cool logo like that and Monster-brand iPod cleaner, how could anyone not want to shop there?!

It really doesn't surprise me. Remember when Realistic, Radio Shack (own brand), Tandy computers were the main names that was sold at RS? Plus there's a few other brand names I can't recall. When InterTan disappeared, RadioShack started to sell other electronics by Orbyx Electronics as well as name brands such as RCA and Panasonic to name a few. They even changed their company logo.

All these major companies Canadian and all, are being gobbled up by superstores in the USA. What happened to a "Made In Canada" solution? I guess our government doesn't care.

Edit: btw go to RadioShack site now. There's a big blurb about the change.

I don't like it either but its competition and they have a scale much greater than 10 times ours so its hard to compete.

Creating an environment in which a "Made In Canada" solution would prosper requires regulation of the industry but, since that makes people refer to Canada as a "fascist state", it won't happen.

Unhappy

That was wonderfully executed. Their new website www.TheSourceCC.com is not up yet and the old one does not work either.

The introduction of THE SOURCE BY CIRCUIT CITY will be supported by a major advertising campaign featuring television and radio commercials as well as print and outdoor advertising.
God knows you wouldn't want to advertise on the internet!

They have connectors, cables, and lots of other do-it-yourself merchandise and other exotic stuff you won't find anywhere else.

The exotic and do-it-yourself stuff is the part of the stores that The Source will most likely not be allowed to sell (actual "RadioShack" products will have to be removed from the stores).

Most of the A/V cables and switchboxes I use came from Radio Shack, err, The Souce by Circuit City (say that 20 times fast).

I can kind of relate to that.

I've worked for 4 different companies, and never had to move desks.
