Charlie Echo:
Can you give me more info on this? I'm looking for an installer myself, in Cornwall, Ontario. The closest two shops I've found that sell OTA gear are: http://otacanada.com http://compunation.com I've contacted both to see if they provide installation services. EDIT: Compunation indicates they don't. Last edited by brianV; 2011-04-19 at 11:42 AM. |

I don't want to post his contact information without his permission (I only have a home number). I will try and find time to contact him and ask if it is okay.

Click on the saveandreplay.com advertisements here at this site - they are our offical OTA Forum sponsor and they are in Mississauga. They can sell you a balun.

New here and looking for a knowledgable installer/seller in Niagara(Canada). Only found one guy in St. Catharines who only wanted to sell me cheap stuff with no advice.

Use the Search This Thread tool to the upper right beside Thread Tools and put in Niagara and/or other terms and you'll get several good answers.

As promised:
I met with the owner of Bob's Antennas, 1324 Route 500w, Casselman Ont. (about 35 km east of Ottawa). Bob has been in the antenna business for about 40 years. He will do a complete installation,ie`labor, deep-fringe antenna ( Channel Master and I didn't ask the model number), tripod with a 10 foot extension for roof installation, cable, rotor, tuner, amp, nuts and bolts for about $1400. He suggested that I do a trial run (good idea): he would do a temporary installation so I could test the system for 4-5 days ($260 and applied against full purchase). All with a 90 day guarantee. I'm not certain if the price is fair market -would someone confirm please- I'm thinking about it but I'm looking at a 14 month break-even when compared to a cable or satellite system. Comments? |

Bob at Bob's antennas said he would sell me a tuner for $99...and I'm only assuming that the amp is part of the deal.
Sorry for the (my) confusion |

$1,400 for a soup-to-nuts tower installation seems reasonable for people in deep to deepest fringe areas.

Looked like he said "tripod" not "tower". If the former, that seems a little pricey.
If the latter, that is a reasonable price. |

Try to itemize yourself about what it would cost at retail prices in ottawa for the parts then figure what's left for install price. Maybe you should confirm with him the tower vs tripod concept to clear any possible misunderstanding.

Yeah, installing a tower is a whole different kettle of fish compared to installing a tripod.
