I heard that once the internet via Satellite was dropped that that would free up half of Bird 82 for more bandwidth.
Now this makes me want to ask a question: I had heard that half of bird 82 was "fried" or broken - which is why the HD and the foreign channels were on there (less popular). Is that true? or is it just that the bandwidth from internet takes up the rest of it? |

So, unfortunately, there's not a whole lot of available space left on N2, even with the demise of DirecPC. |

No point in putting general popular channels on Nimiq 2 since the majority of people don't subscribe to HD or International. Plus if they had popular channels there, they could run into a shortage of the new Dishs by lots of people suddenly wanting to upgrade their dish. I believe Nimiq 2 will be the home of any new channels. For their internet, they offered 512kb speeds and i believe a few thousand subscribers. I'm not sure how much room the average channel takes up. |
