Default Got the check!

Just wanted to let everyone know i received my refund check when the local (edmonton) LG service guy came to pick up the 44" TV. Went to Future Shop to get the 44" Toshiba but they had no stock! Either did Best Buy. Was able to get a demo deal on the Toshiba and when new stock arrives they will swap it. After all this i got basically the same TV for $800 less with an extra year of warranty(i can live with the silver). So far i am happy with the picture of the Tosh.
By the way LG refunded the price of the TV,extended warranty and delivery charge (plus GST).

Cheers!

[QUOTE=666]hi, Terry, which authorized LG dealer suppose to call you? can you mention the name of the dealer??

I'm sure someone will edit this if I can't say the name so... It is "IT Electronics".
I actually had them come and try to fix a problem with my TV a while back. I have bad bowing when watching 4:3. They said they would have to take the TV to shop and try some different fixes, they had never seen the problem before. I decided I could live with the problem because it was evident that I was the guinea pig for this fix so to speak.
So what replacement set are you looking at?

Terry

doesn't the toshiba 44" is same as the LG one?? my local salesman (whom i purchased my LG from) told me that the toshiba 44" is actually OEM manufactured by LG and put "toshiba" name on it. anything starts from 50" is manufactured by Toshiba themselves.

so i am not gonna risk it again with the chance of getting the same LG problem...........

btw, fitzgeraldj, the most important thing i want to know is your check a "check", "money order" or what? cuz i don't want to get a check and deposit and wait for the bank's to clear the check. it will take me a few days without a TV............

Hi, Terry, i guess everyone will get their check from their local. i m located toronto and i have a local service come and pick up my TV.

i actually in the same situation as you do. i love my LG and i also do alot of research before i reached LG. i will rather get a replacement from LG **if the price are the same now and then*** i love the external look (design) of my LG TV. i also tried to find a replacement from local store (which is much cheaper now) but of course, can't find any of them. i don't like those DLP TV in the same class like samsung, Toshiba, or Panasonic. and i also don't like LCD rear projection, neither Plasma.

so i saw those LCD HDTV, the picture quality are so nice, but the price are too high.........

so i finally settle on a higher level Samsung HLP5085 DLP.

hope this one will last longer.........

Hey Fitzgeraldj, I see you too are in Edmonton, what service center did you did with? Could I get a phone number? I have a reflection problem with my HD2+ 44" and I'd prefer dealing with a service guy that is familiar with this tv.

Regards.

How do you like the Toshiba compared to the LG? Is there any difference in picture quality. LG will be picking up my TV sometime this week so I went shopping for a replacement on the weekend. I was looking for an HD2+ LG unit but all I could find were models with very old manufacturing dates. So, I ended up with the Toshiba also. I will be recieving it on Friday.

V- I don't find a huge difference in the picture quality. The menu's are basically identical except for wording. My SD channels are still not great and are on par with the LG. HD looks great. The demo i have right now is an October build date so i am hoping for a newer build date when the new set arrives. So far i am pleased with it and for the money difference the silver is not an issue for me. I noticed when i looked at the model number on the back it had extra letters and numbers but still had the LG model number as part of the number. Also i did not have to reprogram my Harmony remote. It works just the same for switching between inputs (bonus!).

Thanks for the response. What I liked about the LG picture was that it didn't have a pixelized look to it like other digital units - more of a film type picture is the best way I can describe it. So, it sounds like the Toshibe won't be much different which is positive. And with a $1500 difference between what I paid for the two sets I can live with the silver also.

Thumbs up

Got my check this morning! Lg service representative in Mtl picked my TV!
Full refund (taxes, extra warranty...) check was dated April 12th!
I am glad the saga is over.
Purchased a Toshiba 52HMX84 which will be devered wednesday evening!
Paid 4,200.$ with stand and a 4 years warranty at FS.
Finally the stress is over.... I feel bad for the 95% + of customers of the RU-52SZ.. who will never know of this problem!
Thanks again to DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMER and DHC (Hugh) for bringing
this problem to light!
Roger

Received our cheque today and have an empty spot in the corner. Now, if I can just get my husband to stop worrying about this site and get a replacement, I'll be happy.

The toshiba is manufactured by LG but Toshiba assures me that their set has the HD2+ chip (as do the later model LG sets)
