Danny, thanks for posting.

Someone (Kinstud?) mentioned that you could tell in the service menu. When I asked LG, they said you could but it was "unreliable" and only the s/n would determine for sure.

Once again if your s/n begins with 404KT, 405KT or 406KT then you probably have the HD2 whereas 407KT and above is HD2+ but that is conjecture.

It was me...based on what the LG tech guy told me. But he didn't divulge which numbers. He said only an authorized technician should be in the service menu. And he did say that the ONLY way to get into the service menu was with a special remote. So I said, "I can get in without a special remote, but is this the same menu? Is there another menu?" Again, he wouldn't divulge anything. So everything I know is hearsay...nothing proven.

I went into my service menu and copied down all the numbers. See if they change when I get my new TV.

(Not sure if I should be posting the method I use to get into the service menu...but I found it on the web )

Greetings

The Service remote just gives faster access into the SM ... and it also gives access into one addition SM section I believe.

CCF codes are available for this remote for those looking for it.

regards

I sent my information in this morning via the LG site link. Received a message back within an hour from representative asking me to call with my serial no.

Have to do that after work. I will let you know.

Great site - excellent work Hugh. I have been lurking for months and made several purchases based on this forum (my LG DLP being one of them).

To access the service menu, hold down the Menu button on the TV, while pressing the Menu button on the remote (and pointing it at the IR receiver on the TV), for about 5 seconds.

But I have not found an easy way to return to the service menu after performing a task. I can only "Exit" and then I have to repeat the steps over again to get back in. Which is annoying enough to keep me out!!

Question

V - Alexis
Still waiting for a reply from LG.

I was wondering! Should the dealer be providing follow-up
information concerning the replacement of our TV ?
As comparison, when an automobile manufacturer has a recall
of any kind, it is the dealer who most likely will be
making arrangements for a replacement, repair, etc.
From what I have been told at my local FS store, they have
not been contacted from LG, and are not aware of any problem.
Are we to understand that only the customers reading the
DHC web site will have their TV replaced!
Thanks, HUGH and Digital Home Canada!
What is the dealer's responsabily in this matter.

My 44" has a July manufacturing date.
LG rep responded and told me I had the HD2+ DMD.

I replied back and asked if July was the date that the 44's started having the new chip and she replied that I was correct.

I was the one who actually made my dealer (sounds like drugs) aware of the problem. I don't think they should contact everyone, it should be up to the manufacturer. It may be different with cars, as some things may be safety issues. I'm not aware of the consumer requirements on non-safety issues.

Yes, I've Googled it and it appears we're it.

Waiting for a response from LG but based on what I've seen here I'll be surprised if my had an HD2+.
Got my response today - no HD2+. Now to find out when the replacements are going out. It sounds like we're all getting Maria's canned response so far - any delivery dates or details yet?
