First post, but been reading for awhile.
Is it easy to record from my ExpressVu onto a HTPC using the All In Wonder 9800? What problems could I run into? Thanks |

Shouldn't have any problems you can't overcome but but you'll have to tune the ExpressVu receiver to the right channel and have a separate event timer on your ATI software. Don't forget its only analog output from the receiver .
IMHO, buy a PVR and then output recordings that you want to keep. |

You'll need an IR blaster to change the channels for you. I'd suggest you check out beyond TV. it's got a load of expressvu users (including me) and it works quite well. The first thing they'll say is to get a different input card but you can hold off on that for now. Just head over to www.snapstream.com and check it out (free trial download). The forums have loads of helpful info as well.

No problem recording from most expressVu units but the only thing I recommend is using your AV reciever (if you have one) as your audio and video switching device and connect the 'record' or 'monitor' out from the AV receiver to the input of the AIW9800. This saves you from wiring directly from the sat receiver to the AIW and having to mess with external switch boxes, etc. And then you only have to have on input from your AV receiver to your display device - assuming that it will be s-video or component. Have Fun...
