Default Samsung DLP and 8300HD -- use HDMI or component for HD and SD?

What are owners of Samung DLPs with Rogers 8300HD STB using for connections??

I've heard that HDMI is best given that is a pure digital connection to a digital TV. However I've heard that the component is great too. I would prefer not to switch inputs for HD and SD. Personally, on my HLP4663 I think the HDMI is great for the HD and still very good for the SD. Not much of a difference with SD via the component. What do people recommend to stick with? Any tricks?

Many thanks!

Yes I would like to know as well.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Either connection should be able to provide both SD and HD viewing, when properly set up, no need to switch. Check out the Digital Home FAQ on "DVI/HDMI INformation" for additional details.

Also, I believe you should only have one type (HDMI or CV) connected otherwise things may not work properly.

I could not tell the difference between HDMI and component connected to my Toshiba 52HM84 DLP.

Since I only have 1 HDMI input, I use it for my upconverting Panasonic S92 DVD player (set to 720p) - however, even with the S97, I cannot tell the difference between HDMI (at 720p) and component (480p). I probably don't have the vision to be a real videophile!
