Default Conan (O'brien) in HD!

Was watching last night's repeat of Conan on Star this morning, and Conan mentioned that he's (finally) going HD in April.

It'll be nice to finally have a decent late-night show to watch in HD!

(and yes, I realize Leno's been in HD for years, but I did, after all, say 'decent late-night show'

Now if Letterman could go that route, I'd be in latenight HD heaven!

I don't know what the deal is with Letterman anymore. They started converting the studio...got HD cameras long ago...but I haven't heard a peep about it in many months now.

Who cares. Who wants to see that Jacka$$ in HD anyway.

Conan on the other hand would be great to see in HD.

I'm actually really surprised it's taken them so long, Letterman, while always slightly behind Leno in ratings, is their flagship latenight show, it consistently beats Leno as far as awards go, so I'm surprised that it hasn't happened yet.

I mean, I can understand Conan taking a while, he's definately a different audience than Leno, and obviously because of his timeslot, his ratings aren't as high. But still...

Quite a few I would think. But he's definately an aquired taste. People either love him or hate him. (I'll assume you're in the former catagory!)

I still don't understand Leno's appeal personally, I mean, as I mentioned, I can understand people NOT liking Letterman, and NOT liking Conan, but I just don't understand how anyone can enjoy Leno at all...he's such a corporate schill, so safe, never takes any risks with his humor...however, his monday night newspaper clippings, those are great...but then again, his staff didn't write them!

My sentiment too but also with regard to the cynic equivalent, Conan.

I think you underestimate the number of "old foggies" who watch Leno and who find Conan's humour juvenile.

I love Conan, I think he's fantastic, but I can't see him doing near as well as Leno or Letterman without some serious tweaking. Believe me, if a network out there actually thought that Conan would kick either Leno or Letterman's ass, they would have hired him ages ago when his contract was up for renegotiation.

He'll be moving to 11:30 in...what is it? 2005? Whenever Leno steps down, and anyone who thinks that he'll be able to keep his show exactly as it is now is dreaming. He gets enough complaints right now due to characters such as 'Masturbating Bear', 'The Gay Bible'. and 'NASCAR lovin', Gun Totin' Jesus', and given the 'sanitation' going on in American network television right now by the FCC, I don't see some of his bits flying at 11:30.

You hit the nail on the head right there...

Unfortunate though, as I've never found Conan to be juvenile, just different... in the same way that David Cross is far different than, let's say...Ray Ramano.

It boils down to opinion really, it's not like I could convince someone who didn't like Conan's humor that he really was funny. The wife thought Mr. Show was the most unfunny show out there, whereas I found it hilarious. Such is life.

Try 2009. Leno just signed a 5 year deal.

Right right...for some reason, I thought '5 years', and somehow that added up to 2005...which means that my sense of time is really, REALLY screwed up. When I wrote that, 2005 seemed like a long way off, as opposed to 30 days.

Letterman's in HD this fall. Same as Saturday Night Live. And Carson Daly's nightly show.
When is Conan going HD? Has there been a specific date announced? Should I PVR tonight's episode?
Conan>Letterman>Leno>Late Late Show (died as soon as Kilborne left)
