The fact they had 6 months from the time MLB NETWORK was approved in oct. by the CRTC to the start of the baseball season to add this channel should say something Who knows when or if they ever plan to add this channel could be 2 days or 2 years from now After spending 2 days on the phone with Rogers nobody would agnowledge this channel even existed Nobody had a clue even though they were promoting the fact the channel was in free preview on ch 415 at the time

So ... is this channel ever launching?

The idea they went from a phantom tease 8 days ago, to giving no indication as to the status of this network is quite amazing.

You have to wonder why Rogers would go to all the trouble to apply for permission to carry this channel if they have no plan of ever carrying it or maybe that was the plan all along and maybe stop anyone else from adding it

I wonder if the news surrounding A-Rod & Co. is a factor in the delay at all. It may not be the wisest move to launch the MLB Network in Canada when the MLB is taking a PR beating relating to the PED scandal and unleashed the largest group of suspensions since the Black Sox scandal.

You guys are over thinking this. I think they just accidentally put up the add too soon. I think it will be coming at the end of the month, like how they have been doing it for the past months.

Rogers was granted the right to air MLB here in Canada in Oct. of 2012. A year or more has passed and no where to be seen, probably keeping it on the shelf until the people who ever grants permission decides to get involved and forcing rogers to bring it into Canada. They probably are keeping it out of the airwaves so no one else can have access to it....With ball now over hopefully we will have it by spring training 2014??????

I'm not sure why everyone thinks its Rogers fault. its not. Its every providers fault. All they(your provider) need to do is make a deal with MLB Network USA not MLB CANADA as it does not exist and Rogers doesn't have a licence for MLB: Network Canada they asked the CRTC to allow MLB Network USA into Canada.

So its every single Canadian Provider fault

Bell
Rogers
Shaw
Videotron
Eastlink
Cogeco
Telus
MTS
Bell Aliant
SaskTel
Your Cable Company here-Cable
Your IPTV Company Name here-IPTV

Thats who's fault it is.

Here's the link where CTRC approved MLB Network to go north. Now stop blaming Rogers without asking you Service Provider for MLB Network.

You're right. Lets stop blaming Rogers and start blaming the service providers...

So when will we be seeing it on Rogers?

Regardless as to who should be getting the blame for the lack of an appearance of this channel in Canada (and I tend to agree that it's on the service providers for not adding the channel)...

It is still really weird that Rogers advertised the channel as being in free preview almost four months ago, and there has not been a word since. If the rationale was that they were not going to launch it DURING the season, well it's November 5th. Either it's going to be appearing soon, or it's in a state of limbo for whatever reason with Rogers.

Plus don't forget Rogers, via their ownership of the Blue Jays, control the distribution rights in Canada for all baseball games. If you want to take a game out of the MLBEI package and place it on your station, Rogers has to sign off on it. I am sure Rogers has a controlling hand in the hangup...

They do but MLB Network offers alternate feeds for their game time broadcasts. If Bell wanted to carry the channel and just have it blocked out (like they do for TCM HD when there's a rights restriction, more common then you'd think) Bell could carry the alternate channel that just shows reruns during live ball games and cuts into MLB Tonight once the game concludes.

I'm sure this isn't what Bell wants but frankly, if Rogers was being that ridiculous with selling the rights, Bell has a way around it. Rogers doesn't own the rights to anything baseball in Canada, just the rights to MLB live games.

If we ever do get the MLB Network in Canada, it will be a watered-down version like the NHL and NBA Networks we have already.

I'd be happy with the old "Diamond Surfing" or similar programming returning to one of the sports networks next spring/summer.
