Fever Pitch - It's kinda hard asking a baseball fan to give an honest opinion about a baseball movie. I loved this movie. If you liked Fallon from SNL, you would like him in this movie. Plus, it's all about the Sox winning the Series last year (not Chicago).

Ouch!! sprung for the 'Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection' this morning!! Couldn't resist any longer. We watched a little of 'Shadow of a Doubt' on the tube last evening and found ourselves hooked. We plan to watch the whole movie this eve -- it'll be our first taste from the set (of 14 movies).

Lots of great viewing ahead, to compensate for the many evenings of dark, damp, and dreary weather!! Hope you're enjoying your set james99!!

Shadow of a Doubt was supposed to be Hitchcock's favourite movie.

I have the set but I haven't really watched it since I picked up all 14 movies during the spring. All these movies were previously released as 2 seperate boxsets a few years ago and I never knew about this boxset.

This is a great set and if you don't have the other boxset (which came out about a year ago) then pick it up as well.

Let me know what you think of the other movies and you might want to watch them in order.

Will do. And agree re: watching them 'in order', and had planned to do so. Just wanted to catch this one now, as we would like to see it from start to finish while it's a bit fresh in our minds, etc. Then we'll drop back one, and start the rest in their proper time sequence.

We're still into the Hitchcock tv series stuff as well, but progressing slowly -- too much to watch, and not enough time to watch, at times!!

Last week Book TV started showing season 1. They just finished the last season and have started over. I have season 1 on DVD so I might stop watching it on tv. It's on daily, several times a day. Great series.

Having previously enjoyed The Transporter (a couple of years ago), I recently picked up the DVD and watched it last night with my wife. It's hardly a great film, but it is a fun action flick...and my wife actually enjoyed it, too!

The PQ is great and the DTS audio track is sweet.

I watched Halloween this afternoon. Good flick. Not scary or gory at all. Typical John Carpenter type direction. I can see why Jamie Lee Curtis became a star; she was fantastic in her first movie role.

I just watched (studio) "54" on IFC , it was a pretty good movie , and considering I come from the whole disco era , I found the music in the movie pretty good

Madagascar -The "special features" short, The Madagascar Penguins In 'A Christmas Caper' was far more enjoyable than the feature presentation, which was irritating and unamusing.

(By comparison, Robots is a work of genius.)

Lemony Snicket's 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' - A very curious and surprisingly dark movie about three orphaned children and their devious guardian. It was...interesting.

Decided to add my most recent movies:

Anchorman (Will Ferrel, Christia Applegate) - Everyone kept telling me this was hilarious. It was funny but there was no way it was ever going to live up to the hype I was being fed.

Secret Window (Johnny Depp, John Turturro) - I liked this more than I thought I would. Suprised I didn't figure out the story sooner. Depp was good, story was so so.

Crash (Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon) - Fantastic cast. At first I thought I wasn't going to like this movie but it was great. Yet another movie that intertwines stories & characters but as a whole was too powerful to be considered a criticism. The kind of movie that eats at your brain even though the show is over. And for the rest of my male pig brethern - naked Jennifer Esposito . Without question the most recommended of the three.

A nostalgic impulse (will I ever learn?!) spurred me to rent Predator and watch Ahhnold kick extraterrestrial @ss in the jungle.

And, so, another old favourite bites the biscuit...

War Of The Worlds

I really don't like Tom Cruise, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's got some intense scenes and a DTS soundtrack that matches. There were a couple of inconsistencies with some electronic stuff working and some not, but I tried not to let that bother me.
