Thumbs up

The other day, I decided to try my first HDPPV. Rambo was playing so I bought it. The show starts and lo and behold the sound is a few seconds ahead of the video. UGG!!! it was worse than a dubbed 1960's martial arts movie.
A quick call to *C and the TSR took my info and asked me to hold while she checked on this. A minute later she came back and said the techs were looking into it and it should be synced later or at worst, tomorrow. She credited my account with a free movie and that was that. I continued to watch the movie for another minute then the digital audio light flashed on the amp and the movie was back in sync. WHOO HOO!!
That's what I like to see, good job *C!!!

Default Service?

Generally good service but.........

I got a new 505 and was told it was activated on my first call. No HD channels (505 ? HD ?) Anyway 2nd call "Oh you will have to wait for the update and then in a day or so you will get HD channels!" (WHAT?)

3rd phone call I made. The guy immediately states the wrong Vcode was sent and sends a new code. HD channels active.

3 calls to activate a 505 correctly, like it hasn't been done before. If they paid the good ones more money and fired the poor ones they would need less people, make more profit, and have happier customers.

Unhappy more than 1 hour on the phone and no answer...

I guess I'm very unlucky with Starchoice customer service.

At 10pm, I decided to give up and go to bed.
All I needed was to remove the Duo option (2 individual channels for $2.99) that they put back last friday because they did not understand my request by email... and I'm a bilingual subscriber who doesn't have the chance to be able to change his programming online.

*C had technical issues with their phone lines yesterday.

They also seemed to have problems with the US HD feeds also. I got tons of pixellation of most eastern feeds.
But since they were busy trying to fix phones, they could not answer e-mails either...

Smile Nothing But Good Experience

I've had nothing but good vibrations from *C. We recently had a very bad storm, and the plastic around the LNB (where it slides into the mast) had fractured and seperated. I called a TSR who told me they would be more then happy to send someone out to replace the LNB. She also thanked me for getting on the ladder to diagnose the problem before calling. The next morning the tech came over (same guy who installed *C initially, and installed my 4th line a few months ago). He hopped up my ladder and swapped the LNB. Whole appt took 5 minutes. Everytime I contact *C, I'm shocked at how awsome they treat us customers. There is no other company whos customer service is comparable that I've ever dealt with. Way to go *C!

I just called *C and asked for an individual channel that is a part of a specialty bundle. On their website there is a box you can 'tick' beside this particular channel and under the box it reads "$0.99". So I assumed that meant it was available as an individual "pick'n'pay" channel. Yet I was told by the *C rep. that I had to purchase the entire bundle for $4.99. This is strange as I've ordered other "pick'n'pay" channels like this one before.

The CSR was wrong. Call again and get another CSR to do it for you. Also, why don't you make the change online - changes are made immediately?

What's the channel? I can tell you if it's available by itself.

When I logged in and put a tick mark by the channel I wanted to add and tried to go to the next page it said " You are about to remove a service with a minimum subscription... call Star Choice " etc. After looking things over to see what was wrong I noticed that the Bronze package is chosen for me automatically when I go to the page to change my programming. (I don't even have that package, I have a higher one).

Since there is no way to neutralise the "Programming Package" - I have to choose one or it won't go to the next page - does that mean I have to go through all the channels I wish to keep (Take 2, etc) and mark them as well as the channel I wish to add? (I'm not sure at this moment which channels other family members have)

I checked the newest brochure online and it is not marked as available as a stand-alone. However, I did check some older brochures and it is definitely marked available as a stand-alone. I saw no mention of $0.99 but it does ring a bell. I know that MSNBC, BET and each of the U.S. superstations are available for $0.99 each. I would try another CSR. Try to speak to someone who has been there a while. I have, in the past, had to tell them what is available.

Default Closed My Account..So Long

I closed my account out with Starchoice after being a customer since 2001. They took my Global Maritimes off the air....no remorse, no sign of putting it back.. Bye Bye.
Been a pleasure talking with everyone on this forum.

Take care.
Good luck to all.

Yes, you have to reselect all of your existing package/channels to keep them, otherwise it will think you want them removed from your programming.
