Default 92% on 82 and 91...but won't lock-on

I'm not running a hd receiver. I'm getting 92% signal from both the 91 and 82...82 is locked on but when I highlight 91 it says 92% signal but also says "Wrong Sat 82 Nimiq 3" (or 1, can't remember) Any suggestions with how to get my sat to lock-on to 91???? Is there a setting on my receiver that I have to change? I can't get higher than 92% on my signal.

Thanks for any help.

The dish is not aligned properly. Please do a search or read the installation threads. This question has been asked and answered a number of times.

Exclamation zero signal?

my sat 82 channels stopped working the other day so i switched the lnb inputs on my sw21 switch and then the 91 sat stopped working. Then yesterday both satellites signals were at zero and none of the transponders would produce a signal. i thought maybe i had a defective switch so i replaced it with a new one, but i still have the same problem. zero signal on every tp, i need help. plus my receiver started making this really high pitched whistling noise.

Sounds like a bad connector. Possibly shorted causing the squealing sound.

I tried plugging one cable at a time into the switch and then doing the check switch operation on the receiver but i still get the same result. the high pitched noise and no signal. If i remove the lnb's and run new coaxial cable is there anyway to ensure i dont mess up the alignment?

Changing LNBs won't move the dish unless you really yank on it. Perhaps your receiver is bad. Can you borrow one to check?

If the short is between the Receiver and SW21, you do not seem to have removed that cable yet and the sqeal would continue. Remove line at the Receiver, see if that helps.

Okay so you were right! I tried a new wire going from the switch to the receiver and voila! It worked! Im surprised that cable went bad, its protected from the elements and seems to be a decent looking cable.

Thumbs up Thanks, Pinza

Pinza, your posts on aligning a dual lnb dish with skew settings are invaluable.
I was having some difficulty yesterday, until I read your instructions.

Once I ran through your checklist, I had everything up and running in 20 minutes. Thanks!
