How many of us are here, and who has the Dart Evo app? What's your opinion of it? It has me drove up a wall.

Sadly, and I hate to admit this but I was involved in the very early development of the DART, what a joke. The Guy at Bell that was running this was also a joke.....
Only ever played with pre-launch versions of the DART and thankfully I have had zero input on the new "APP". Not really heard too much about it but I will ask around. |

The biggest problem I've had with it is that it wants photos....which is fine....whatever we're already doing that for our contractor, but the kicker is it won't let you upload files off your phone it expects you to take the pics at the end.....basically run all over the job again AFTER you are done with it. Obviously whoever developed it has no clue what it's like to work and climb for a living. I've just been taking blank pics for it. Screw the redundancy.
The other major problem is it kicks you out if you don't touch it just long enough to let your screen go idle so you get to log in about 100 times a day. They supposedly have a support/development team you contact for such issues but they pretty much act like the picture issue doesn't exist and the other they try to blame on some task killer app I've never even heard of much less have. You have quite a time scanning bar codes for receivers unless the lighting is just right and 3 moons of Jupiter allign with Uranus just so during a solar eclipse. Even at its worst and with the activations being slower the old hand held darts weren't nearly so bad......plus we didn't have to carry the medieval contracts that make people think you're taking their arm, leg, first born child, and everlasting soul. The app makes our lives easier how, exactly? That's my rant anyhow. |

monkeyhunk, what kind of phone do you have?
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace and I have no problem scanning barcodes unless it is dark in the room, but usually turning on a light or turning towards a window is all it takes. Like you said, the most annoying things I've noticed are that you have to take the pictures at the end, like you said, and every once in a while when taking a picture, or "idling" too long it will boot me back to the login screen and I'll have to start all over (but that does seem better lately). I understand why they'd want pictures directly from the camera, not ones already on your phone, but they should be taken earlier in the process rather than the very last step. I do like the fact that I only have to carry around my phone, which I already have on me anyways (and it's one less device to make sure I remember to charge), but having to fill out and get the work order and rental contract signed is a pain in the ass. I find that with the Dart Evo the activations are much faster than the old Dart. In most cases the activations might take 15 seconds, where the old Dart could take up to 5 minutes sometimes. Pinza, in my experience my only problem/complaint with the pre-launch version was that it would randomly crash on my phone (which is to be expected with a beta) and I'd have to relogin, but not nearly as much as I have to log in on the release version. |
