Default Canadians playing in USGA Womens Amateur Championship (Golf) Aug 6-12

The USGA Womens Amateur Championship is being held next week in Cleveland. It will be 2 rounds of stroke play with the top 64 going to match play. ( http://www.usga.org/ChampEventSite.aspx?id=17179869348 )

The Golf Channel has 5 days of coverage of the match play portion of the event:

There is an excellent field this year with 15 of the top 25 world ranked amateurs playing. There was a record 1,123 entries.

Among them are a number of Canada's top amateur golfers. Here are some of the Canadians to watch for:

Jennifer Kirby (Paris, Ontario) is currently ranked 35 in the world and Brooke Henderson (Smiths Falls, Ontario) is ranked 40.

Brooke Henderson is currently leading Brogan McKinnon (Mississauga, Ontario) by one stroke after day 2 at the Royale Cup Canadian Girls Junior Championship ( http://golfcanada.bluegolf.com/blueg...eaderboard.htm ) in Calgary (68-67/69-67 and distancing the rest of the field). Brooke also will be playing in the Canadian Women's Open later in the month, having earned an exemption by winning on the Canadian Womens Tour in June, the youngest person to win a professional tour event. Lydia Ko of New Zealand had been the youngest, winning the New South Wales Open in January (she is ranked number 1 in the world and will be playing in the US Womens Amateur next week).

In the Royale Cup Canadian Womens Amateur Championship last week ( http://golfcanada.bluegolf.com/blueg...eaderboard.htm ), Brooke Henderson was the top Canadian (5th place) with Brogan McKinnon and Natalie Gleadall (Stratford, Ontario) just behind in 6th place.

The Stroke Play portion of the tournament is complete. The top 64 players after today will continue onto match play, starting tomorrow (and on Golf Channel from 3pm to 5pm each day this week).

The following Canadians will be moving on to match play, seeded based on their stroke play positions:
