Just curious to know if anyone as heard anything about this functionality (whole house PVR) that was announced to become available this fall during the initial Illico new generation launch press conference that was held last spring?
Would be nice to know if they are still on target with releasing it during Fall 2012 as this is still a major feature now readily available with Bell Fibe.

I spoke with Videotron last week and they are sticking by "fall 2012" for the launch of the whole room pvr. However, they say many things so not sure if this is just lip service.

Any special device required for this?

Nothing else required but current devices that support Illico new generation software i.e. Cisco and Samsung devices.

I asked this question in July and the consensus seemed to be that it would be available Fall 2012. Now we are coming to end of October 2012 and no news from Videotron. In fact when I asked the Videotron people moderating their Facebook page they were very very vague saying that they would let us know when they would hear news about it...
Is this another one of Videotron`s promises that could be delayed possibly by up to 1 year?? I am starting to think so.... Please Bell Fibe hurry up and get the service available in Mascouche ASAP!! I never thought I would say that I am looking forward to get back with Bell after being an Expressvu customer for so many years and hating their customer service but I can`t argue that Bell has a proven technology and more English specialty channels.

Still no news or schedule coming from Videotron as of 17 Nov. 2012... Does not say much for Videotron`s (and their VP who said multiroom would be available in the Fall of 2012) credibility.

Did you really think they would have multi room by now?
I am a Videotron sub with internet and have seen that the only thing Videotron is fast, with is sending us our bills.Heck they don't even pro rate the very first bill and that still bugs me. In September thet told LaPresse they had a 5Mbs 15GB internet plan intead of the lousy 3Mbs 5GB The Multi room thing is just to stop the bleeding. They would not even think about it if Fibe did not exist. Currently with Bell Satellite and phone. Viideotron mobile and internet. |

Not sure if the new mpeg4 compression is a prerequisite for this to work. I am glad that Bell Fibe is dragging Videotron into the 21st century otherwise they would had been content to stay with 20th century technology offering limited and overpriced packages to their captive clientele. |

I agree expressmoria. My illico2.0 is finally working fine after about 5 months and I personally want them to fix everything before introducing more. Kudos to Bell for "helping" videotron move into the 21st century. No one wants one company doing it right - we want competition.

Well, we are in March 2013 and Videotron is now at least 6 months late with their multiroom offering, they are not saying anything about multiroom when asked and I believe that they will never offer it.
Videotron cannot compete technically with Bell in the whole house pvr and technical knowledge area.

If you are a loyal customer, and you complain about the lack of multi room, I bet they will offer a second pvr for free. Of course, this is not multiroom, but may satisfy some people.

When I switched to fibe I mentioned this as being one of the reasons for the switch and videotron did not have an answer for why the long wait and still have no due date. Instead they are trying to get people to take another terminal and tell you that this is almost the same. Who are they kidding.

I do no know why Videotron had to create illico 2 from scratch.
Rogers, Time Warner and other cable companies already offer these types of services. I would have expected that a turn key system would had been a better solution instead of re-inventing the wheel and trying to debug new code. Wonder who took the fall for this screw up at Videotron while Bell Fibe continues gaining market share with an out of the box solution that works. Last edited by 57; 2013-03-11 at 11:50 PM. There was another service that was in the works before the current Illico 2.0
There was 100% an IP based service, it was in testing for nearly a year before they started testing the current iteration of Illico 2.0 You can hope at some point they fall back to the IP service, and the Samsung boxes are all IP compatible. |
