Even then, there are some pretty interesting "deals" made between BDUs and Cat. B specialty channels since that portion isn't regulated by the CRTC. For example, religious channels often have to PAY the BDUs for carriage!

Precise financial details of the new seven-year agreement weren't disclosed. But people familiar with the situation said Viacom won an increase of more than 20% in the fees paid by DirecTV, which previously had totaled around $500 million annually...
DirecTV had previously said that Viacom was asking for a 30% increase in fees. The new agreement doesn't require DirecTV to carry the Epix movie channel, which had also been a stumbling block. |

I'm happy its over although it didn't really effect me as I still got to see Teen Wolf on Much Music. I would however liked to have had Epix been included, but oh well.
