Good info File ...thanks very much !
I thought ordering a theme pack was an automated thing so that explains the delay.....I'm probably on the waiting list. The CSR's were probably busy yesterday handling the " Great outage of 2012".

As far as the PVR,good point but I don't believe anything was recording during the outage so I just tried to play a program I recorded on June 6 with no luck, just a black screen.

I'll probably try resetting the system and if that doesn't work I'll call Aliant tomorrow. I think there probably getting sick of hearing from me !

Regarding changing over to Eastlink,I really don't want to go through all the trouble of ripping this out....if I could get this system working properly I think I would like it. I realize its a new system and there will be bugs but I hope they are worked out soon.
I am also confident that Aliant will eventually upgrade their HD & premium sports programming but I hope its sooner than later.

Thanks again, Dave

If you reboot your set top box it'll be sitting at the starting screen for, well, awhile. The functionality that does software stuff is also offline.

*EDIT-A few minutes after I posted this it was all working again, I didn't reboot box or anything*

I too am getting the black screen when trying to view a recorded program, I'm in Saint John. So it's defently related to the outtage from yesterday, must be some form if DRM Licencing issue.

I recall this happened 2 years ago when I was on the Non Fiber Aliant tv, in that case It wouldn't let me record shows or schedule shows to record, and rebooting the box at that time did tell me no network was avaliable even though I was watching live TV before I rebooted.

I've seen this issue a few years back, that time it wouldn't let you schedule or record programs.

So your guess that it's a DRM issue is probably correct, Hopefully they fix this ASAP, i've honestly never seen issues like this with Eastlink or Rogers, but then again they are TV companies that went into the Phone Business while aliant is a Phone Company that has ventured into the TV business.

I experienced problems like this back when I had Rogers. Software updates gone bad, channels not working, extreme pixelization, on demand not working, playback of recorded stuff not working. I lived in an apartment so it was my only choice. Unfortunately I was actually so close to the CO (it was literally across the street) that the signal was too hot and I couldn't get Bell Aliant TV or High-speed Max.

Now... just from a technology stand point... Bell Aliant's is much more complicated to cable.

Shortly after I made my last post, I was able to view my recorded programs again.

And very true File, the technology involved with Aliant TV is a lot more complicated and with that I am sure only a handfull of Aliant Techs are able to support that back end.

I reset as well, before coming onto the forum. Now stuck at system loading message.

Wish I had read the thread beforehand as the England game is on this afternoon.

My PVR is now recording a program until 11AM so it will be interesting to see if I can watch it when its complete.

Yeahhhhhhhh. The FibreOP TV team is *not* one of the teams I'd like to be on. Supporting Mediaroom is one way to drive yourself to drinking.

From their Facebook page:

"We are experiencing problems with PVR and video on demand. Please don’t reboot your set top box. We are working to restore service."

All of a sudden everything is working fine...the black screen is gone and the PVR is working perfect.
I just don't have a lot of confidence for how long.....as long as it stays on this fall for football season !
Still don't have my theme pack yet that I ordered yesterday but as File said it's manual and probably takes a warm body at Aliant to press a button some time this week.

Well, not exactly a single button... unless things have changed a person has to actually manually add each channel to your channel map. Hopefully they have automated that though...

Default Don't delete your "blank" recordings.

I've seen situations with Mediaroom where it will play the "blank" recordings once the problem is fixed.

The PVR authorizes each program with the head-end before it plays it. If the head-end servers aren't configured properly, the recording may be blank when you try to play it. Once the problem is fixed, those same recordings will play properly.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having problems. Gotta love this forum!
