To get rid of unwatched channels you lock them out. Choose channel locks and create a password. I hide all the French, the Adult, PPV etc.

Guide info is downloaded each night while the receiver is switched off, so unless you leave yours on 24/7 I don't know why it is not up to date. Pulling the Smart Card (if there is one), then re-inserting after you see the System Info Screen will force a reboot and download the guide data.

3 questions please

what if you chose to record a program pvr, say at 2am, then you power off the receiver at 10pm, will it still record

also why is bell guide all over the place, 1 sports channel, then the others 10 pages over, and so on, can u individual change each channel, like put "400 in place of 201" so i can organize the channel listing to my liking

i can't get my screen to fill up, its always on 4:3 with black bars on side, on both hd and sd, how do i change this, i pressed the # button and it says normal on both SD and HD

1. Yes.
2. Create "Favorites", think you can make 4 or 5 different ones. I know people who do this for Sports, Movies etc. There is also a "Themes option in the Menu, have you tried that.?

3. What model receiver and how is it connected to the TV.

That could be why you can't adjust the Screen size then. Unless in the Menu you have it set for 4:3.

Is that an HDTV? If so, you're watching SD without component video or HDMI.

ok but can u guys help me out with the following questions, im a newbie

1-my guide seems to have doubles, like double channels, how do i fix this
example aptn shows up at 23-24, then exact same 2 channels in the 200s, also a hd ontop of this, can i "cleans" the guide somehow

2-also if i turn to a channel, i know i can pause it up to 60 min, but can i permanate record it
if i turn to "simpsons" at 7pm, no timer record, then watch the entire thing till 730, i know i can rewind and watch again but can i record it so i have it for good and if so how

3-can i record my pvr recording onto a dvd recorder

4-why is the SD channels not as crisp, on shaw the sd channels seem to be more sharper than bell

5-why aren't channels like fox news and deja vu in hd, i thought bell had more hd channels than shaw

1. See post 4 of this thread, item 2, or post 2, depending on what you prefer.

3. Yep, see the following post:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show...77#post1424077

5. Bell has more HD than Shaw, however, each provider has some channels that another provider may not have. Besides, if you're connected using composite (yellow) video cables, you're not watching HD because HD cannot be passed by a composite (yellow) cable as I explained in my previous post.

Oldschool,

Channels below 100 are decriptive video services for the hearing impaired. These feeds have a voice over to describe the scene for those that cannot see the picture. APTN has two feeds for different time zones and Bell carries both feeds, there are many channels where Bell carries both the east and west feeds for timeshifting purposes.

If you go into the menu of the reciever go to System Setup, then HDTV, make sure the setting is at 16:9. As you are using a composite video connection (Yellow, White and Red), you are only viewing in SD and not HD as mentioned before, these cables cannot support a HD signal. HDMI Cable is the best to use in order to get an HD signal. If you choose to continue to receive the signal in SD, you can stretch the screen by pressing the "down arrow" in the "page" section of the remote (upper right part of remote has a small up/down arrow buttons). If you are watching HD, you use the "up arrow" to change a 4:3 screen to fit the entire screen.
