Film ratings: New Hope A, Empire Strikes Back A+ (my fav), Return of the Jedi C+.

Wow, C+? I thought the film was more deserving than this. Not an A, but B+ at least. There are some really great scenes/parts in this movie. C+?

Another change to anger the purists: Greedo shoots first!!

Edit: I guess this change was in the 1997 version too. Still an interesting article.

Agreed I was wrong to complain in public and have deleted those posts.

A huge 10-Page Review over here at dvd.ign:

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/545/545786p1.html

They highlight what the changes are for each movie, and they say that Greedo and Han fire at the same time.

They had a bit (an hours worth) of the star wars documentary on A and E last night. I was watching the last half an hour and found it to be a really interesting documentary about how star wars came to be. This will be included on Disc IV in the new DVD set.

The AE documentary last night was an edited version of the documentary, about 90 minutes long (without commercials). The one on the DVD set will be a 150 minute version, according to some of the reviews.

Just got my copy of the Trilogy and am so excited. I'm getting ready to sit down and watch 'A New Hope'. After tonight's hockey game I'll post my review.

I've been able to pick up the odd dvd released "early" (i.e., before the mandated release date), but never this early!! I'll be away on the 21 Sept official release date, but have made arrangements to have a copy saved for me -- hopefully, it'll be waiting for me to pick up on my return. Maybe the store will have many copies left at that time, but I didn't want to take the chance!!

Well here it is. I watched 'A New Hope' this afternoon. All I have to say is......AWESOME!!!!! It all starts with that opening shot of Princess Leia being chased by Vader in his Imperial ship.....this is not like anything you have seen or heard before from the previous STAR WARS release.

All the reviews I have read so far are accurate. Lowry Digital has done a fantastic job. The PQ is outstanding. Colours just jump right out at you. I saw details I've never seen before. Reflections on Darth Vader's helmet, details on the Millenium Falcon and even R2-D2 and C-3PO look like they just came off the assembly line. Every single laser blast has been 'juiced'. It's bright red and bright green. It looked like they added some sparks when Obi Wan and Darth have their final battle. Every time the lightsabre's hit each other, there was a green flash. I had never noticed that before. Will have to see if this occurs throught out the entire Trilogy. The only problem I had was with the scene at Mos Eisley spaceport. It looked a little too dark for me. I know it is supposed to look dark in there, but maybe a little too dark. If you think I'm impressed with the PQ your right. The film doesn't look like it was shot in 1977, more like 2004. Absolutely flawless job Lowry Digital.

Now the audio. The Death Star just screams out the .1 in 5.1 sound. Make sure your sub is ready for a workout. Here's a tip. If you want to show off just how good your sub is or make everyone in your neighbourhood think an explosion just occured, turn up the volume just a bit more when the scene of the Death Star is about to blow up Princess Leia's home planet of Alderan. HOLY $%^&!!!!!!! Dialogue throughtout the movie is very clear. Surround cues and pans are blended well. You will be ducking from all the TIE FIGHTERS and X-WINGS. Not a single complaint about the DD 5.1 EX sound.

I haven't had the oppourtunity to check out 'Empire' or 'Return' or the bonus disc. Later in the week I hope.

I have waited a long time for George Lucas to put out this Trilogy and make me happy. Mr Lucas, you should be commended on a fantastic dvd release. I won't even mention anything about including 'the original version'. (sorry had to)

The wait is over STAR WARS fans. A masterpiece in 1977 when I was 6 years old. Still a masterpiece in 2004 on dvd at 33 years old. You HAVE to get this TRILOGY.

my 2 cents..........

'The force is strong with this one'........
