No sound from DVD - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

My wife is at the cottage trying to play her yoga DVD's. She gets a picture but no sound. She tried a couple of DVD's.

However when she plays a blu-ray she gets picture and sound. I am trying to help her solve the problem by phone and FaceTime but to no avail.

Setup

PS3 - HDMI to Sharp LCD for video.

Optical output from PS3 to Sony receiver.

Appreciate any help.
