We are considering switching from Bell Satellite to Rogers with the Whole Home PVR. We currently have 2 Dual Tuner PVR's and 2 regular 6131's. I have 3 questions:
1 - Is Rogers HD the same quality as Bell Sat HD? 2- Can Rogers use all my internal cabling (RG6) that is connected now? 3- What equipment do I need to purchase for the 4 TV's? I apologize in advance if this is not the right place to post this! i would be greatfull for any advice you can provide

1) My understanding is that Bell video is 720p only. Rogers is a mix of 720p & 1080i, depending on the source. There are also several 480i SD channels.
2) The cable should be OK 3) You can get HD PVRs and converters. At the moment, they're calling the equipment "Netbox". The PVRs have 2 tuners. You can check out the details at rogers.com. |

1. Quality is highly subjective, but most users report that Rogers HD is slightly better compared to bell Satellite
2. Shouldn't be a problem 3. You'll need at least one 8642 PVR and 3 4642s. The 8642 only has a dual tuner and can only record 2 shows at once, if you want to record more shows you'll need more 8642s. Also keep in mind that Rogers Whole Home PVR system lacks features that Bell Fibe and other MSOs have. You can only schedule recordings on the PVR at this time, can't do it from the 4642s at this time. Also pausing live TV is only supported on the 8642 model as well. |

For the PVR,
If you have the 9242 Rogers 8649 though it has a Deul tuuner you can only watch it on one TV compared to the 9242 you can watch it on two tvs. Also the remotes for Rogers work on the same receivers in the same troom compared to Berll where you can have two receivers in the sameroom using different addresses on the remotes which won't effect each receiver. Since I had both BTV & Rogers I find it to be the same for HD. The only thing Rogers has oveer BTV in one department is On demand. Rogers at present is better then BTV at the moment. |

The quality of HD by either provider is really subjective. I've heard both cases some say it's better on Bell, and others say it's better on Rogers. What I'm disappointed with is that right now Rogers has a lack of HD offerings. They used to be the leader. I wont post them individually, but Rogers is not carrying about 30 HD channels that are available to them, many of which Bell already is carrying. Mind you Bell is missing some HD channels that Rogers has as well. Hoping by the end of this year things will change with HD channel availability for all providers.
