Reading a lot of negative talk about Shaw. Anyone got anything positive to say? We're just about to sign up with them as we have limited options on Hamilton Mountain...

I've personally got no complaints about them.
Service has always worked great (both tv & internet), and customer service has always been easy to deal with.

I've had a few issues and complaints but in the end I have no major issues with Shaw. I do hate their billing practices with a passion! (Ok, so 1 major issue.) The rest is minor annoyances with services, picture quality and the like.
Thankfully most issues I have had have come with compensation of some sort. I've had erroneous late charges removed. (Due to that aforementioned billing hatred/confusion. I was given the wrong amount to pay.) I've been credited for my internet being 1/5 of what it was supposed to be for a week. (Because a tech removed the MoCa filter.) Lastly I was compensated for having to return to the Shaw office because they couldn't afford to buy back my Extender first thing in the morning. (Their floats are about the same as the cost.) I was given 2 free por..... VOD movies. (2 at a value of $11.99 each, thus the "porn foolery". That's what VOD porn costs. *poop eating grin*) They do have an expiry date, which leads me to wonder if my 2 free movies for signing with the "Shaw Friends" program are still valid. That was months ago and I have not used VOD at all since. Anyway, the gist of my post is, they are by no means perfect, but I'd hate to be without them. (It would take a lot for me to go back to Telus. It's been over a decade.) They play games like any other profit based company. It sucks, but if you "want to play, you have to pay" these days. I'd rather "play" with Shaw than Telus at this stage. |

My only complaints are related to the cost and non-stop increases in the monthly fees.
I find the service to be great. I like that there's a best of hd option to only add in hd channels (I don't want SD). Shaw pretty much carries all the HD channels I want. Adding anymore would just increase my monthly bill. I feel they've got the meat and the bones right now. Anything extra would make it bloated like the old Tiers 1-3. My Internet is awesome. It runs at 50/3 all the time. No problems with my phone service either. Concierge chat is great if I want to tweak my packages. Shaw's staff is knowledgeable and gets things done. I've never had any problems with shaws tech support that I did with telus. I really like shaw. The only major drawback is they won't stop increasing the fees. Every 6 months it goes up. I keep cancelling channels/packages to compensate. Next up is to kill the landline. |

I have had Shaw ever since I moved to Calgary in 2000. I have had minor issues with them, but nothing major. I have found their customer service top notch. I enjoy excellent HD reception and fast internet speeds. It has only been the last couple months that my internet speeds have dropped to about a half of what they should be on my BB100 plan. The tech that came to my house and confirmed the saturation in my area. I was told it would not be fixed until my area is upgraded. Which is fine with me as Shaw has given me a credit on my account because of the slower speeds.

I'm with Shaw Hamilton and my only complaints are the tech support has ridiculous wait times, the HD quality doesn't seem as good as other providers, and the price ($165/month for internet/cable).

If you have 2 services, sign up for Shaw Friends. Your chat wait times turn into a couple minutes.

Not a complaint thread, lots of those as the op stated.
![]() And in keeping with the stated purpose of the thread I'm a triple pay customer and have been very satisfied with the service.
