Default How come some cable companies are getting away with this?

According to CRTC regulations, no BDU is allowed to carry more than 2 sets of U.S. Networks, either 1 East and 1 West, or 2 East or 2 West. The rules are very clear. I've noticed as 1 example, Cogeco is carrying 3 sets of U.S. Networks violating that regulation. They offer SD Buffalo East, HD Detroit East, and Seattle West. Does the CRTC not police their own regulations? In the past they were temporarily allowed to carry 3 sets ,as did Rogers, since the Buffalo stations were not broadcasting HD feeds at the time. Why is Cogeco, and their are some others still allowed to get away with this

They can get an exemption if they are unable to get a good HD signal from the same city as their approved SD source.

Cogeco already downconverts the feeds from Buffalo, so your point is moot.

Yeah, I'm not sure why Cogeco is not carrying Buffalo feeds in at least Niagara, Hamilton and Halton.

Yeah, for me PBS almost as strong as CBLT-DT Toronto... Stronger than the other networks from Toronto too...

EastLink up here has three Fox feeds. Fox Rochester in SD, Fox Detroit in HD (both east) and Fox Seattle in SD and HD for the west ones.

As for the other 3 commercial networks and PBS, are all Detroit for SD and HD east feeds, Seattle for SD and HD west except PBS for the east is from Buffalo.

Understand the regulation part, but it doesn't bother me. Not sure why we have Fox Detroit in HD instead of Rochester though. Isn't Fox Detroit no longer "an approved" Fox feed?
