Wii hidden extended warranty

While back the wii started making scratches on the disks (eventually had to replaced one game) then controllers wouldn't synch (would work on other wii's). As bought when they first came out warranty expired, gave up on it and bought another used from a pawnshop.

When trying to update the replacement found couldn't so realized FW modified. Called Nintendo gave the saga and they told me they couldn't help but they could offer a no cost replacement for the original even though out of warranty (because I described it making circular scratches). They also said they would replace any unplayable Nintendo games and would attempt to repair other makes by buffing if the scratches were circular.

Sent pre-paid by Purolator and just got back a refurbed unit with a 1 year warranty.

btw pawnshop was willing to give a refund.
