I have a Denon 2112CI a/v receiver, which I believe is the same as the AVR-1912, however my question is probably generic to many Denon a/v receivers.
Out of the box the remote controlled the volume in a continuous mode such that when you pressed the volume button, the volume on the receiver increased until you removed your finger. My daughter and her friends killed the Easter Monday day off in the basement playing the PS3 and watching movies, and now the remote only increments the volume 0.5 dB on each press of the volume button. This is annoying and, as usual, they claim they did nothing. I can't figure out home to change this setting. Any ideas? |

Did you try new batteries? Is there a setting in the AVR to "quantize" how the remote treats the volume? (didn't find anything in my Denon OM about this)

Just tried the battery swap and there was no change. I too combed the owners manual and could find no reference to this. I suspect it could be an "undocumented" configurable feature, but perhaps the remote is defective. I will try to contact Denon to see what they say.

Borrow a Denon remote from a friend or from a store? Try your remote at a friend or store?
Reset the AVR to factory default? Usually instructions in the OM in the troubleshooting section. (Obviously, you'll lose any setting changes you've made.)
