Default New Graphics for Blue Jays on Sportsnet

I know we have other threads about TSN and such, but the new graphic packages, intro, music, etc that Sportsnet used during the opening weekend for the Jays has been a much needed improvement. IMO, none of the packages used since the late 90s when TSN had the main rights have been anything special, but I think Rogers finally got it right.

I would like their game info bar better if it didn't have the Sportsnet ID bug on the left corner, and on the right corner the runners on base graphic shouldn't show up until there are runners on base. We now have 2 station ID bugs telling me something I already knew. A little off topic, but the in game commercials are very annoying.

In game commercials are part of pretty much every sports broadcasts. They aren't going anywhere. I had a friend come over to watch last night. Was the first time he had sat down this season to see a game and he noted the new on screen graphics were an improvement, except that instead of yellow for when a player is on base like it used to be its now a light blue, which is harder to distinguish. I thought about it for a bit and he is probably right.

To put the game status info bar at the bottom is a horrible decision. It interferes with the
view on ground balls, catcher signals and anything else close up. Plus it is distracting.
I checked mlb.tv and all other providers put their game info bar at the top. (Fox, Comcast, NESN, YES)

This has been a trend for a few years now...
Some examples: STO (Indians broadcasts), ESPN (bottom right corner) and MLB International (World Series on Sportsnet), plus I believe COX in San Diego may have been or is at the bottom at some point, so hardly a new thing.

This is true, but all those you mentioned use a box in the corner of the screen. Not a graphic that takes up the width of the screen and has a bunch of wasted space in it. They could have at least put a pitch count in there.

Other than the bottom score bug, the graphics look good. Last year the Jays SN broadcast, as well as the graphics used on-screen at the Skydome were one in the same. Maybe this has something to do with the improvements?

As of tonight, the base indicators are yellow again. Someone must be reading.

Glad that I'm not the only one who had an issue with the blue base pad colour! It was driving me crazy to watch this on a standard definition broadcast. The yellow is far more visible.

I think there is still enough space on the screen to add a third station identification bug in the top left corner!

I don't like having the score at the bottom because when I rewind my Bell PVR the Bell time indicator is also at the bottom and blocks the score. I like using the one hour buffer to rewind to a scoring play when I miss a few innings--with the score at the bottom I can't tell when the score changes so I know when to stop rewinding. SN needs to put the score back at the top of the screen. If it aint broke, don't fix it!

All you posters who agree that the runners-on-base graphics in powder blue was hard to distinguish please count me in. Did not get to watch last night but if it is now yellow, thank you to whomever.

Speaking of the score board on the bottom, I would like to light a fire under the person who has the responsibility to keep it updated. You need a calendar to time the time between when a ball is called and the graphic is updated. This minor thing has pi$$ed me off for years. You know who you are! sailmaker

Wow, I am of the other opinion. I haven't really paid attention this year specifically but in years past my complaint was that the guy was too fast on the button, to the point where he would sometimes get the call wrong and they would have to go back and make a correction to the count.

The score bug for strikes and balls are electronically provided by the venue... the truck relies on the building for the accuracy.

You know, if they just replaced the out indicator with dots like Fox does, they could easily squeeze in a pitch count without reinventing the wheel. (it'd probably end up looking like [ : | 23 P ] or something.)
