I'm guessing die hard fans can still watch the video stream of BOS/ WASH on cbcsports.ca.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/broadcast/

CBC Bold's licensing prevents them from showing any of the top 4 sports (NHL/NFL/MLB or NBA). They are allowed to show soccer and olympic sports.

However, Sportsnet is a regional broadcaster and CBC is a national broadcaster. No CBC games are on CI and CHEX is part of CBC.

@pokerface: There are so many misconceptions in your little ramble that I wouldn't know where to start a critique. One point there is no Centre Ice during the playoffs. Check your IPG. No games listed tonight or any other night. There is a blurb about checking back for info. about the 2012-2013 season soon.

I don't think it does, but they've never had cable rights to any of those leagues. I think the only limitation is 10% of their schedule per week to sports. NB Josh explained:

Question Centre Ice vs. Center Ice

I realize that Sportsnet is a regional broadcaster, but I would argue that the CBC is broadcasting the Wash/Boston game as a "regional" game with national rights.

I already noticed that the American version of Center Ice doesn't include any playoff games, but I know that the Canadian version (Centre Ice) used to include them if they were not aired on Canadian TV. The wiki page still mentions that select playoff games are broadcast on Centre Ice (when they are not on Canadian TV).

It could be that there's a new deal that no longer includes the playoffs for the Canadian Centre Ice package, but many years ago, I did see some NHL playoff games (from first 2 rounds) listed as part of the Centre Ice package on my Rogers IPG.

However, now that TSN2 is available, and CBC likes to add "regional" (hello, CHEX) playoff games to its lineup, I doubt that we will be seeing any playoff games on the Canadian Centre Ice package (even if it's still allowed) in the near future.

Bold is prohibited from "professional stick and ball sports" as per CRTC license. See: Hockey, Baseball, Football, Basketball. But that is for another thread.

As for Centre Ice, I vividly remember promos saying playoff coverage, however this was before the latest deals with CBC/TSN were signed, recall that before these deals, ALL Canadian games aired on CBC, and TSN would get whatever was left (max of 4 series on TSN). This came in handy back when it was normal for several Canadian teams to make it. (and some early, such as EDM @ DET or @ DAL a couple times.

On Rogers Cable, CNBC is listed as airing Predators-Red Wings tonight and Sharks-Blues tomorrow. I am assuming the channel will be blacked out during the duration of those 2 games to protect the CBC and TSN's rights

You will receive alternate programming on CNBC, same as NFL Network does on Thursday Nights when Sportsnet shows those games.

Tried to stream part of the Red Wings game to test it out before tomorrow night. It crashed in 30 seconds. Tried again...crashed within 30 seconds again.

If CBC thinks this is in any way remotely acceptable, they're wrong. It's obvious to me that they're holding onto the BOS-WSH rights just to keep them from TSN.

I'm seriously thinking of boycotting all CBC broadcasts from here on in just out of principle.

It works fine for me. What browser you have?

I can only get it to work on IE8. Don't have IE9 because it screws up NHL 2004.

For what its worth, the CBC fine for me in OS X using both Firefox 11 and Safari 5.1.15. Its likely a local issue for you.

Weird. Tried it again and it's working alright.

I'll keep my fingers crossed tomorrow.
