That wonderful BBC series that was shot and aired in 1976, has just been released on dvd again -- yeah!!
Based on the 1934 novels by Robert Graves, the series captures Rome's first four emperors like never before!! I have it on order, and so looking forward to getting, re-watching, and re-living this phenomenal tv series. Anyone else? |

Great series, great acting, great "history". Look for Patrick Stewart with hair!

Yes it definitely was a great series.
If my memory is correct, we used to watch it way back, weekly I think, over the air. It was either PBS or Global - or on both, maybe at different times, don't remember exactly - way back before we had cable tv, at the place in Kingston. |

It aired "back then" via PBS's 'Masterpiece Theatre'. I remember first watching in after a couple of episodes had already been aired, but picked those up later, when the whole series was re-run.
Hopefully, the set will arrive this week!! 57 ... will look for that hair!! |

Yeah, it just arrived (3:30 pm our time) ... so a first look this evening. Have read that the first two episodes are combined into 'one' in this edition -- so looking forward to some 98 minutes worth of first viewing.
