And as covered else where on this Forum, the heavy rain does not have to be at your location, it can also be at the Uplink Station in Scarborough.

Yeah that old white cable is likely 80s vintage. And most likely not rg6. I will replace it, and probably try a better connector as well. What should I look for, in a connector? The one I am using now is just one from the dollar store, or somewhere like that. The connection on both ends is tight, but maybe gold plated or something like that would be better?

Look for Compression fittings, gold plating is NOT required.

Thomas & Betts are very good.

I noticed tonight that there is yet another connector involved somewhere that I cannot yet trace. I am connecting the 100 foot cable to a white cable (likely rg59, but no markings) but the cable that comes up through the floor is a black cable, and marked as rg59. So I am connecting 100 foot cable to a rg59, connected to another rg59. So there are two connectors involved, both likely not compression, and two rg59 cables. No wonder I noticed a quality degration. I call this "CSI - Cable Scene Investigation".
