Bell TV offer a type of "On Demand" right now, where part of the movie is already downloaded onto the drive, in 1080p.

If the footprint does not reach you will get no signal, no matter how much 'tweaking' you do.
It is theoretically possible to get a signal but those 20 foot dishes are a bugger to mount on the roof and aim properly. I've heard of people getting Bell TV in the Caribbean with 10' dishes and line amps.

No it is not possible, just like Pinza mentioned, if you are out of the footprint. A larger dish will not help you get a signal that is not there. Just ask the people in the southern US that cannot get 82W anymore. Anyone who is getting a signal from 91W with a 10' dish live on the outer fringe of the footprint and that will all be changed with the launch of Nimiq6 and the new footprint it will have.

Question

True

But having that large of a Dish would be a bit of an eye sour but still and at least if rained in your neighbourhood(asuming your not in the same uplink general location)you'd still won't loose youtr signal.

But would you have 100% on ever transponder?

I know when I had BTV(had two 24" dishes one@91, one@82 and most of the signals where either 100 or 95-100% and that was with N1 & N?(old sat). Not sure what the signal would be now if I had BTV with N4 & N6?

More importantly than the snowbirds, will this have any effect on those of us using a bird dog to point dishes every day. Will they have to be reprogrammed since it's Nimiq 6 and not Nimiq 1 anymore?

It has actually been designated Nimiq 91 by Bell for a long time as saying Nimiq 1 & 4 are both at 91 degrees was confusing.

I don't see any major problems with meters, you will still be aiming at 91 degrees, regardless of the name of the bird. It is not going to be 8PSK so there are no problems there.

True enough, Pinza. I didn't even think of that. Forgot there are already 2 at 91.
