So I have had my 2262 for almost a week. When the system was first installed, the installer noticed that the sound would go mute, and it was assumed that the wrong code was entered into the VIP2262 remote control. He changed it, and the sound came back, and he left.
However, since then, I've noticed that when the unit is turned on, there's no guarantee that I will get sound. I can turn it on and off until I get sound. Is this a remote programming issue, or a defective unit? |

If it's hooked up with HDMI it could be a handshake issue.

An MTS user is reporting a similar problem with a VIP2262 connected to a Pioneer vsx-819H receiver with HDMI.
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show...08#post1395708 Can you try changing the sequence that you power on your devices? Are you connecting to an AVR and if so, which model? Perhaps optical would work better. I think the VIP2262 uses a Broadcom chipset which is different from the VIP12xx units. Can anyone confirm this? |

I have the older PVR unit (installed October 2011) and recently I seem to have some SD channels that the sound cuts out. It is connected to my Panasonic TC-P42X3 Plasma via a HDMI cable. It's just one SD channel and not it's HD equivalent.

Alas, no, I don't have an AVR. It's going straight from my STB to my TV. It probably is a handshaking issue since to get around it, I now turn my tv on and off until I get sound. *argh*. Once there is sound though, it doesn't go away. I guess I should finally get an AVR and not rely on audio over HDMI...
As for programming the remote to turn the tv / STB off/on in difference sequence - as if I could figure that out! I think I need a new harmony before I can get that fine granularity control. |

Is the VIP 2262 set to stereo or surround? Most TVs choke on surround.

uuh. I'm not sure. I'm not even using it right now. But I assume stereo. There's no reason why it would work sometimes and not sometimes, is there?

The problem could perhaps arise with a change in programming from say DD2.0 to DD5.1... Did you read the HDMI link in post 6 of the other thread, mentioned in post 3?

DD2.0 and DD5.1? I assume that's stereo and surround sound? I checked - the PVR is always set to stereo. I found that once the remote turns the tv and pvr on, i have to just turn the tv off and on a few times before the audio works.
it's kind of annoying.. the HD receiver in the bedroom works 100% of the time. The TVs in both cases are the same (LG), except the living room one is 47" and the bedroom is 42". |

PhuFighter, could you provide the model numbers of both your TVs and STBs? Is the STB in the bedroom a VIP1200?

I don't know the exact model #'s of the TV;s right now, but the one in the living room is 47LD500 or something. The PVR is 2262. And the bedroom is the 12xx based one. Unfortunately the way things are set up in the bedroom, it's hard to move things out of the way to look at the back of the units

Hi, sorry to revive an old thread but...
I've received my VIP2262 yesterday and have had some muted sound on a Fringe episode that I've recorded. It seems to have happen for no apparent reason. I went to the audio settings and switched it from surround to stereo. And in my case it worked. I got the sound back. And since I don't have a HT setup all is good. |

I think there were network issues last night, I noticed audio drops a couple of times.

I also encounter audio problems every 3 or 4 days and have to restart the VIP 2262. Bell support told me that Bell does not support HDMI and suggest using the components cable provided instead. So beware new potential customer!
