Shaw Champ you are correct they don't have it. I take back my comments now.
I thought in the $5 "HI-FI HD" pack it was included, guess i was wrong. Yes I know about Bell dropping it(i also had BEV). Good thing the "Deadline!" show is showing some stuff on Vancouver for this last week. ![]() ![]() ...going to miss HDNet...i had hoped Shaw would keep it until the final days so i could record my shows i guess i can still download them on the internet

But, searching through this forum, the only addition I've seen recently to HD Plus are Family Channel HD and Disney XD HD around November 2011. Both are non "premium" channels. Whereas now, Shaw is removing a "premium" channel from the package. Not to mention, that Oasis HD, a "premium" channel, was only added to the Grandfathered $12 HD Plus package after increasing the price to the Regular $16 HD Plus. This certainly makes it look like you are paying for Oasis HD (given the price for the "premium" channel via a la carte is $3.95). Conversely, now when you remove HDNet (also priced at $3.95), it's as if you lose $4 worth of programming. So, to the customer, Shaw is charging you extra for a "premium" channel when they unilaterally add it to your package, but when Shaw removes a "premium" channel, there is no compensation. Quote:

However, Shaw is now refuting this and insists that the rep that offered it to me made a mistake and that it was never included. I know mistakes happen and I would be understanding if it was a mistake made by a single rep. But, it wasn't a single isolated incident. If you take a look at this thread, several members reported they were in the same situation (in particular, post #375, #383, #385, #395). What's more frustrating is that only one member of those that posted was able to have the offer honoured after calling in (while the rest are still without those channels). Personally, I am quite upset with Shaw pulling channels (first the 5 "preview" channels and now HDNet) and not honouring the package that was originally offered to me. Excuse my pessimism, but given Shaw's current trend, this doesn't seem likely without a new price increase. |

Hi S.Chan, I can definitely see the frustration for you with the particular type of HDPlus that you have and the messaging that was given to you. For that experience, sorry. The increase in price of $12 HDPlus to $16 HDPlus is unrelated to the cost of HDNet. I have sent you a message and hope that we can connect so we can have an opportunity to ease the frustrations you mention unrelated to HDNet. Thanks.

I'd take Oasis as a replacement for HDNet since I still don't get it. I never had to pay the higher price for HD+ but now I'm losing a great channel. I'm on a 12 month promo and it still doesn't include Oasis. It's like I'm somehow not allowed to get it with any package I can get. Now would be the perfect time to use it as a replacement for HDNet.

Jetranger, don't give in so easily. When I learned that my $12 HDPlus was going up to $16 I was told by the Shaw CSR at the Pemberton office that OASIS would again be included. So, it seemed to be adequate compensation for the price rise. But that was before I learned here that HDNet was to be dropped. So, not only will you lose your grandfathered status, but you also lose HDNet. However, I also am reading that there will be some new services coming, so the loss may well be mitigated, at least by new channels. One curiousity - the new Premier Bundle pdf (dated March 12) stilll has HDPlus. Isn't that a bit misleading?

Has anyone that subscribes to HD-Net at the $3.95 price tag been contacted by anyone from Shaw telling us we are losing that channel? And if so what they are offering or replacing it with.(or anything?)
Or do we just tune in on the 20th and find out its gone. It's fine for us on the DHC cause we know but what about the people who have no idea? |

Add me to one of those suckers who switched to Shaw last December and was told that SpaceHD was included in my HDPlus package, only to find out that it was a "preview"... now HDNet is going, I wouldn't be surprised if after a couple of months they would trim HDPLus some more (and not add any more channels, since it is grandfathered anyway)....

I just got my bill and there is no mention of it on my bill. It is listed for the same price for this month and next with no mention that I will lose it. I pay extra on the best of hd plan for the three channels not covered (Oasis, Discovery World, and HDNET).

I'd like to thank Shaw for further eroding the amount of College Basketball I can receive this month. Why drop a channel mid-month and create all sorts of math to credit people's accounts? Simple thing, you drop the channel April 1 and the monthly fee for the service is easily dropped. Plus then it would allow me to watch the rest of the College Basketball Invitational Tournament.
If Shaw is dropping HDNet, I fully expect that Shaw will add a quality channel in its place (i.e. Super Channel). Quit adding garbage HD channels like Animal Planet, Space or the majority of other channels added recently, if you intend to ignore some markets having a major network. I'd also like to know when you intend to launch NFL Network HD? If I was being held over a barrel by the building I live in, I'd have dropped Shaw's services months ago. The lack of MLB Extra Innings and NCAA Full Court is enough to warrant me to switch providers. Add in the lack of Super Channel and Canadian timeshifting here in Lloydminster and I am sick of this. But my lease prohibits me from getting a dish and there is no other non-dish provider here in Lloydminster, AB. |

Very frustrating to see HDNET being dropped. Already fed up with poor programming and this garbage Gateway that I've had for 4 months and they can't get it to work properly. Sorry Shaw you're about to lose my 3 servies after many years...and I'll cancel our 3 business services as well!

I think some of us are shooting the messenger here. Please remeber, HD-NET was bought and is being changed to AXS....Shaw has nothing to do with that. They can't force Mark Cuban, Ryan Seacrest, etc into keeping the programming the same (when in fact we know it will change into more of an hollywood/entertainment based shcedule). Shaw is not to blame for having HD-NET is packages previously and not being able to keep the channel in its current iteration.
As it stands, we do not even know the exact makeup of AXS' schedule and the shows that will even be allowed to be broadcast in Canada. That is more of a CRTC thing I would think, and also the result of negotiations between the new owners and each cable provider in Canada. I am not happy about HD-NET going away, but we all need to realize the reasons why and stop blaming an easy target. |
