Default FTA newbie for fun & pleasure

I actually have Bell services (internet, sat, phone)

my brother in law gave me is old viewsat, and a spare lnb

So i have available a extra "kinda" bell size dish, bell compatible spare lnb, with the viewsat. So i tought i could give it a shot to see what can i get with FTA. No high expectation, just for hobbie and fun

Any suggestion to help me out !
p.s. my Bell installation was done by Bell,
so no clue how to find any satellite either for Bell at that time
or now for FTA

We do not discuss getting Bell with FTA on this forum since that's piracy (doesn't matter that you subscribe). I suggest you start by reading the stickies at the top of the FTA forum for FTA Newbie-type info.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, I hope.

Cheers, K

The only things that i don't have yet is the dish,

(the spare lnb, used to be for a Bell installation)

so if I can add a well sized dish, to my actual lnb and viewsat that would be cheap to give it a try.

The only thing you'll get with the BXV lnb are US locals on 118 and 61.5 which are ITC for now.

You'll need a bigger dish, linear lnb and option motor for everything else.

Cheers, K

You can get a brand new FTA dish with all mounting hardware starting at about $69. Maybe you can even find it locally to avoid shipping costs since you're near Montreal. It's worth the cost just to try out FTA to see if you enjoy playing with this activity.

By the way, I see listed on kijiji in Montreal an 8-foot C-band dish just waiting to be taken from a backyard. Often these can be had for low or even no cost. Somebody should get that nice mesh dish!

Get a 36" dish and Ku LNBF. That is the best start.

I have one (an old one from when Bell first launched - it has seen better days), I use it with an ex-pirate SV4000, to play with, primarily on 97W. I have several Ku LNBFs (only one new one, the rest from the late 1990s).
I admit I took the dish down for major home renovations, but don't yet have it installed back.

Later on, you may want to get a motor, or experiment with a multi LNBF setup, with a DiSEQ switch.

A single LNB has one output, a Dual has two outputs.

Each LNB will only see 1 Satellite. The single will feed 1 Receiver, the Dual will feed 2.

When the weather starts to be more warmer, I will probably climb my tour and add a new dish for FTA,
It will be close to my Bell Dish

Will Bell, ask to check my FTA installation ?
