I did a reset last evening. At 2am a recording of NBCWH shows 33 minutes. At the same time, CBSWH shows 1 hr 3 minutes.

It seems the start time is consistent to the problem, but not the only reason.

Working with Aliant on this one. They did not swap my PVR and the Tech Agreed it's not a hardware problem. I showed them and saved two failed recordings.

I recently had a third STB installed in my basement. I am able to watch the two affected recordings from this STB. Upstairs I have an STB from my initial install. It is unable to correctly view these recordings and fails the same as my PVR at the 1:30 mark on a 2 hour recording. The software is all the same per the System Info, however, the new STB was installed with Ethernet while the old STB/PVR are Coax. I cannot see how that would be related, but was the only difference I noticed.

Anybody else have a similar environment to test the workaround with?

My PVR in the living room is connected to ethernet. The other two are coaxial. I'll try to record a show at 2 and see if it is readable from the other 2. Technically, it shouldn't matter since the PVR is the brains in my setup. Very weird indeed.

Thanks guys for helping me (us) out trying to figure out what the heck is going on here.

Well here's some more inconsistancy. Aliant swapped around my PVR and basement STB. So now the PVR is on Ethernet, while the STBs are on Coax. My two affected recordings now work on all boxes. Seems strange, but I am wondering if the power down/up during the PVR swap fixed this glitch rather than the media switch.

I only suspect this since Danster and Doscott have PVRs with Ethernet already. Time to monitor since I still feel this is software.

The act of doing that probably would have resynchronized the recording database between the non-PVR boxes and the PVR box. If the database contained the wrong information that could have fixed it.

The plot is getting thicker as the days go by...

I wish all of the members here would try to record something between 1 and 3 am and describe their setup. That way, we would get a better idea of what might be the problem: software or hardware.

I'll give it a try tonight. I only have the 1 PVR/STB.

Setup.

I agree with Danster. I'll share the two recordings giving me grief and I will record any shows you guys are having issues with. That will see if this can be reproduced.

TMZ on CTV HD at 2 AM (Series Recording)
WWE Raw on Score HD at 1 AM Tuesday AM (Series Recording)

I have Hoarders set to record on Monday night from 1 until 3 in the morning. I unplugged my PVR to reset it to see if that will make a difference.

Lol at Habkilla.

Danster, is this HD or SD? A search only shows A&E SD for that time frame. Just looking to confirm before recoring. Also, are using a series recording?

Yes it is HD and series recording. I'm sure they both show the same shows.

Apologies for not seeing this folks...and in general for my sporadic appearances...things are busy for sure as 2012 shapes up to be another stellar one for us and the TV service. More things on the way and improvements where we can.

This does not sound like a known issue to me but I am going to run this through the lab to see if we can reproduce guys so please sit tight on it. Can you also provide me a ticket number if someone has an open ticket (from the help desk) on it so I can cycle back with whoever is working it.

In the meantime, you can try this procedure and report back to see if the issue goes away:
1) Power off all STBs in the home.
2) Power up the PVR STB first and wait until it fully boots and video is broadcasting.
3) Power up the other STBs.

This will reset the boxes in the proper sequence...sometimes they can get out of synch. This was meant to resolve the infrequent occurrence of recordings not showing in the recorded TV list but I am curious to see if it will also solve this issue at hand...

Thanks !

Well, since my PVR and STB were swapped I got a new symptom. All HD recordings live or recorded had a lag/freeze to them.

Had field Techs come out and the solution they implemented was cut the wiring to Ethernet. So, now I am in the testing phase to see if my recording issue is cleared as well as the issue with watching HD on my STBs.

I'll test your recordings Danster if my issue returns.
