Nice finds. That commercial is hysterical right at the end. It's not the video of the launch but they did give a 'sneak peek' of this ad during the 'launch broadcast'.

Did you already watch the launch broadcast? If you have, do you have a link by any chance?

I have seen it but don't have a link as such. I'm trying to get that sorted out. There's a really interesting comment around the middle that 'Shaw gets that we dropped the ball' or something like that.

none of those links work anymore?

I'm a little confused on what this is exactly...

Also, what twitter accounts should I follow to get info like this?

I guess if they are going to offer more HD it had to start somewhere. I went to Movie Central vod (I am a MC subscriber so it is free) and a majority of the movies listed there were now listed as HD, I hadn't seen that before, maybe that is a small part of the new EXO.

There are movies listed as HD on Movie Central on demand, but as of right now the HD versions aren't available to watch, but I assume this means it is coming.

I'm not sure I understand the wifi changes... how is it going to be available in malls or parks?

According to that page they don't compress their video

I'm going to be charitable and assume they're talking about not reducing the bit depth, but they're definitely using compression (and would be stupid not to)...

Hi there,

In regards to the superior HD with no compression and improved internet, will it be automatic to all subscribers or will someone have to call in and say switch their current shaw subscription, to a EXO package for the improvements.

You would think the "improvements" would be shot down the pipe for everyone at the same time.

Doh...looks like S.Chan's earlier post answered this.

Okay, questions & notes.

(1) Bump-up has been moved back to August 2012?
(2) Price increases for everything on the TV side. All the price increases that happened in the past week can't just be coincidence.
(3) EXO will provide improvements to phone? Name one.
(4) EXO launches Feb 5 (today). Should we expect a Superbowl announcement?
(5) The EXO FAQ mentions several times that 1080p VOD is only available on the Gateway. Does that mean that it will not be coming to other hardware?
(6) EXO Wifi is expanding to hundreds of new locations in the coming months. Will any of these locations be east of AB?

They do say 'coming soon' (but I can't imagine what they might be either).

The commercial in that link will be shown during the Superbowl, from what I understand.

I believe it will be available on the MPEG4 capable equipment only so not just on Gateway. Motorola DCX series and some Pace boxes are mpeg4 capable.

I believe they say it will be out to Ontario, eventually.

The only "improvement" I can think of for EXO Phone is a rumour I have heard of for a while that Shaw will provide On-Screen Caller ID ... I guess that would be okay ... Maybe that will be coming soon?

The only way they could do that right now is with the Gateway as it has a built in VOIP modem but I have been told this is not something they will likely be activating anytime soon. Maybe I'm wrong, and I actually hope I am because I would love to have this feature, but everyone I have talked to at Shaw has said I shouldn't be holding my breath for this.

Caller display is something I really miss from when I had Bell and have been waiting to have activated with the Gateway. Its disappointing that this this will not be coming soon.
