Default Verification: Classic Arts Primary on Telstar 12 @15W

Hi,

Can anyone verify this channel on Telstar 12:

Name=Classic Arts Primary (eng)
Category=Ascent Media
Frequency=11884 (my other tuner picks it up on 11882)
Polarity=V
Symbolrate=3000
APID=8001
VPID=8000
PMTPID=8020
PCRPID=8000

The signal is very weak and fades in and out and I cannot get a proper lock -- no audio or video obtainable.

Maybe someone else can get a lock? Thanks.

ps. The music video channel BlingBlingMusic on TuVesHD is no longer FTA

I received Telstar 12 well last summer including all of the posted available stations above 11706. Not sure what happened but I can't receive it at all anymore. I need to try re-orienting my dish when weather is warmer. I never received that station. I don't see anybody reporting it either.

@ SuperJ2: I am receiving this right now and have seen it all night. I re-oriented my dish and am now receiving Telstar 12 well. For reference, on my S9, MSNBC is now quality 70%. The mystery signal is on 11885 V 3000. Signal intensity is 90% and quality is wavering between 10% (no signal) and 21%. No lock, no video, no audio. But something is there. I cannot see anything on my Coolsat 7000 so the signal may be DVB-S2.

What is it?

Added: This signal stopped at about 11:35 p.m. EST.

I am picking up a fairly strong signal at 11884MHz from 30W here just off the deck (5-6 deg). Is there any buildings in that direction that might cause the signal to bounce (metal roof etc)... would interfere with signals from 15W possibly. Just an unlikely but possible scenario.

It's a good thought, but I think unlikely. 30W is 15 degrees azimuth to the west and 9 degrees higher elevation for me, and my dish looks out over trees; nothing man-made near its view. Also, I've tried unsuccessfully to get 30W; I'm outside it's footprint for a 1m dish located here. A reflection would have to be weaker.

The 15W mystery signal is back right now. The S9 indicates it is unscrambled.

@Cham: according to 'Satbeams' you cannot see past 22W... and Telstar 12 is at 15W. Thanks for trying though -- anyone between Toronto and NYC should get the maximum signal out of Telstar 12 according to its footprint.

@Cyberham: MSNBC is coming in between 71-73% on my lil 76cm Winegard.
And that Classic Arts wavers between 10~45% -- if only I had a 1.2m!

The link you pointed to indeed shows the picture of the actual the video feed
with specs -- I wonder what size dish was used to capture it? Hopefully, the 'powers that be' shall boost the TX level so we can all enjoy the new channel!

Thanks again for your help!

The link posted above confirms it is a DVB-S2 signal which is why my Coolsat 7000 receives no signal at all. The source language on that web page seems to be Portuguese, so likely the reports are coming from Brazil. That would explain their stronger signal.

Did another scan today and now I am also getting:

11717 V /SR 3200 FEC 3/4 TANBERG

FEED NBC - Tipoli (Libya 1) / Tel Aviv (Canal 2 Israel)

FTA/MPEG2/NTSC/FEED

VIDEO 308/AUDIO 256 /PCR 8190

coming in around 60-65% Q , however no audio/video.

I checked for this one but still I see nothing coming from 12.5W. I have to rely on USALS to point my dish which may not be accurate this far to one side of the motor (60 degrees east of due south).

Oh sorry the "11717/V/3200 signal" is on 15W not 12.5W

I will do another check on 12.5W once I get my new Avenger PLL-LNBF.

BTW... my dish is fixed and thus I rotate it by hand! However I never got an actual channel on 12.5W...just the beacon last year.

My mistake! I had 12.5W on my mind. I also scanned in this signal on 15W the other day. I don't think it was as strong here as you received it. As you say, no video or audio. I have no signal there right now.

Let us know how your new LNBF works. I may need a better one. I have no problem with motor as far east as 15W. It may work further east still; I just have no way to check since I've not received even a beacon from 12.5W.

Today this one scanned in as "AVC" with as strong a signal as I've seen. But VPID=4113, APID=4352, PCR PID=4097, SID=1. These are different than stated by SuperJ2. Different station? It is now varying SQ 10% to 32%. Still no video/audio. Now is when I'd like to have a more sensitive LNB.

Also saw short feed of woman speaking in French on 11996 H 6110, VPID=512, APID=1010, PCR PID=512 SID 1. Scanned in as "GCP Occa" but went to colour bars with banner "CBC/SRC Paris" at end.
from "CBC/SRC Paris"

Hmm...I'm not getting that one, however I have seen the "GCP Occa" before.

Now I am getting "Pruebas CH-2000":

11963/H/14714 VID:2002 AID:2003 PCR:2002

(but again... NO audio/video at this time)

I am now receiving "Ch-2000" too. It is equally as strong as TPAI and RTVGE on the same tp. No video or audio. Not sure where you saw the word "Pruebas" but it is Spanish meaning "Testing".
