Interesting they have nearly identical results for the 2012 Juke (25.7) and Impreza (25.6).

Personally if I was deciding between the Juke and Impreza, it would be the Impreza hands down.

I have owned both Subarus and Nissans in the past and while I loved the engines in the previous two Nissans I owned (2001 Sentra SE and a 2005 Altima 3.5SE), the overall build quality in both was lacking and the resale value of Nissans is marginally better than the domestics. Honestly the Altima was a great car to drive and I put just over 200,000 kms on it and overall repairs (outside of tires and brakes) I only spent about $800 over the 5 years I had it.

Subarus have the best resale value on the merket (not sure if that matters to you or not) and their build quality is up there as well. Their AWD system is exceptional!

Here it is in litres.

Ford Fusion AWD FFV 13.1 City 9.0 Highway.

Not that great. Pretty much on par with the Dodge Charger.

One thing that our current car has that I would highly recommend, is a read-out of current L/100km usage. I have definitely adjusted my driving style to maximize my mileage. It's very easy to compare driving styles and gasoline usage when someone else drives.(are you reading this Mrs. BCScott ) FWIW, we have an I4 FWD 2009 Venza and have a lifetime average over 28,500 miles of 9.3L/100km. We're in a mountainous valley, so that definitely has an effect. Only 4 lights for 100km, though!

I have 23 lights and 4 stop signs spanning a distance of 20km for my commute. And what is this "highway" thing I keep hearing about?

You must be working right downtown Ottawa. I work in Nepean coming from the old Gatineau (Templeton) so my commute is more like 30kms. Not sure where you live in Gatineau that requires AWD, yet the Impreza seems to be the car to go if AWD is a must. Their AWD has been tested and proven for years while the Juke is at birth. With your concern with gas consumption, AWD is not necessarily ideal either. Also too bad it would be a waste of gas to get your gas at the COSTCO gas station in Nepean (every single move counts to save on the fuel expense).

I only commute to work 3 months of the year by vehicle. The rest of the time I have two wheeled transportation. My driveway is about 50m and up hill. Then the street is another 300m up a steep hill. Not easy when the freezing rain hits and we are on a no-salt road. Plus it seems every time I travel East I hit a snow storm. So far I have experienced white-outs from October to May. Last week was crazy. We had freezing rain and then the temp dropped so all the sides streets remained glazed for 5 days. My ABS and 4WD was used extensively.

Understood, definitely justifies the AWD. Good ABS is also usefull under those driving conditions. The Impreza really seem to be the right vehicule for you. With roughly only 3 months of use a year, it should last for a long time and overall cost of fuel be minimal.

Not best MPG

But it's alot of car and with options that others don't even offer.
and great awd system from Volvo.
look at the list of options and you will see it's worth the lower MPG
and re-sale value is real good.

Volvo is still a very expensive car to fix. Great quality and possibly safest car on the road but surely not ideal in Canada unless you have a big pocket and are willing to spend top dollar. IMHO, the Impreza seem to be the best bang for the buck when it comes to reliable AWD.

To each their own. But to quote myself,

Quote:
Power and creature comforts are not high on my priority list. Safety, reliability and economics are
Plus I think the Volvo and Subaru are equal in safety features.

If you had read this thread you would have noticed we are not talking about the advertised fuel economy.
