Guadeloupe and Martinique use PAL/SECAM.

Jay I did not know that have never been to those islands. Almost all the other islands all use ntsc.

I will be setting up the antenna in the next few days and pointing it towards the us virgin island.

All the stuff I need is here.

SECAM being French, it makes sense that martinique are using that, and the other NTSC, but am surprised that British virgin island are NTSC.

I know good point but, here in Bvi the currency in the US $$. uess since they are so close to the us virgin island and import alot from the US it's much easier to use NTSC.

I will be setting up two Channel Master 3766 Vhf/Uhf antenna one for my sister and her friend. Will be using a preamp and going through a sat multi switch setup to feed 4 tv.

Here is where I will be mounting the antenna. The island in the back ground is the US Virgin Island it's about 8 to 10 miles away.

Should have great ota reception and being over the water and on located on a hill, you can see the lower part of the picture the top of the Channel master dish.

View.

Just put on new connectors outside with weather boots. One of the sat cable had corrosion on the connector. Now have to mount the multi switch and Winegard AP8700 preamp on a board and start to run the cables into the other bedrooms. There is a pump room right behind the dish and that has power will enclose the power supply and swwitches.

Used the Winegard preamp because I needed just enough gain to overcome the loss from the multiswitch and the cable runs. Good thing the furthest is only 65' and two are within 25'

Good thing it's sunny and warm to be working outdoors. How long can I last drink beers.

Beers to drink all day like water, during lunch and dinner.

Hope I don't fall off the ladder tacking the wires.

The El president is good too light like Corona.

Good thing beer is cheap her no taxes on liquor, at my sister cost about $1.00 a beer.

It would be interesting to have a system setup to get both the NTSC and the PAL systems...

Default They use SECAM-K

Here's a list of world analogue TV standards:

http://www.kropla.com/tv.htm

Most of the pro and semi-pro digital videography gear (handhelds, switchers, etc.) can now input/output both NTSC and PAL. A person living in range of both could probably rig up a TV watching solution with that kind of stuff. Although SECAM and PAL are close in some ways, they are incompatible in most and I'm not too familiar with gear that can input/output both NTSC and SECAM.

Old joke about SECAM: "Système électronique pour confondre les américains"

I am familiar with a slightly different version of the SECAM joke - Something Essentially Contrary to the American Method. The joke is technically accurate - the SECAM color system uses line sequential transmission of color difference signals on a frequency modulated carrier. NTSC uses simultaneous transmission of color difference signals using suppressed carrier phase and amplitude modulation.
