Well, I finally took the plunge and purchased a 6100 receiver.
At $399, I can't really argue with the price, and that's even for a lowly existing customer like me! I have had a 3100 system with the "old" 18" dish for 4 years now and I purchased the 20" dish upgrade kit, which is what the CSR at Bell told me I needed for HD. Both the dish and 6100 are on the way to me. My question: Since I am simply replacing the 18" dish with the 20", and assuming that I set the skew correctly, is the "pointing angle (x deg SW)" and elevation going to be the same, or close to allow the 20" dish to work? If this would be a good starting point, I will make sure to carefully mark the orientation of the old dish before taking it down. I have read that some have been able to get this 20" dish working fairly easily, and others have had a VERY hard time with it. I just want to make it as easy as possible for myself. Thanks! Andrew |

Well, if you read my thread below: http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/for...ic.php?t=16384
the only real problem I had was with me being a dumb-dumb. I was trying to install the dish without the "Y" adapter, and that just messed everything up. Make sure you have all the parts, look at where the old dish is pointing and you should be fine. |

It isn't that hard. Just tun into one sat first then when you get a high signal on that one try to locate the other. If the other stays in the red run the "check switch" and that should clear things up.
