Very interesting. Looks like their Fibe 50 also changed from 50/10 (100 gig) to 50/50 (250 gig). I'm going to call and see if they will upgrade my internet to the new Fibe 50 without increasing the price. I doubt it but it's worth a shot. That extra 150 gig per mth will put my mind at ease.

Alea iacta est. Placed my order with Bell Fibe, technician will come next month. I guess that Videotron will not be happy. This is what I will get:

Telephone: regular telephone with caller ID and call waiting, no long distance.

Internet: Bell Fibe 50/50. 50Mbps upload/download, 250Gb/mo.

TV: Fibe TV with basic channels, 15 a la carte, time shifting, 4 HD theme packs, Movie Network. One Whole Home PVR and two HD receivers included.

Total cost normally is $152 + taxes, first 6 months promotion is $130 something. It is slightly better than what I have now, with Fibe 7 internet and Illico digital.

Hercules, How much would you pay with Videotron for a similiar package?

Mr Waxx, I believe Bell will upgrade you to 250 Gig if the price is the same as what you are paying now.Bell comes out with better prices/packages which you can also get if you are paying the same as the new deal. I was on a very old 20gig download and 10 upload and was paying the same as a 45gig. Called Bell and now am getting 45Gig (40+5).

Thx Rogue.

I did call but the rep I spoke to could not guarantee that my promotional credit would carry over. I originally signed up for the fibe 50 (100 gig) @ 84.95 - $40 ongoing credit - $5 bundle discount = $39.95 / mth.

I'll give them another call in a few weeks since this change is relatively new.

Sorry, no idea. I am now with Bell for home telephone and internet, and with Videotron only for TV.

MrWaxx, Yes I remember now. You had the $40 credit and $5 for the bundle discount. Regualr price was $85. The new 50/50/250 is $85-$5 for the bundle credit so it is the same price what you would be paying if it were not for the $40 credit. Doesn't hurt to try again later. This just came out and is effective as of May 06 according to their new brochure. Good luck and let us know. Sometimes you have to talk to various agents to get something changed in your favour.

Hercules I thought you had switched to Fibe as you said Videotron would not be happy.

Just a quick update. Called bell again today and got a very friendly and more knowledgeable agent on the line. After 5 minutes she upgraded me to the new fibe 50/50 with the 250 gig usage limit and assured me the $40 credit would remain intact. So I'm a happy customer :-)

Thanks again Rogue!

I already made the appointment. The technician will come next month. As it is now, I am still with Bell (telephone and Fibe 7) and Videotron Illico digital.

Regarding your first question, I have no idea how much the similar package (telephone + internet +TV) would cost at Videotron since I have never had those three services in bundle with Videotron.

Most likely Videotron charges more. Their TMN does not include the supersations and Moviepix,AMC and TCM.

Their Internet 150gig costs $82 promotional price.

Rough estimate TV would cost $75

My current Videotron bill (TV only) is $86 including taxes. It consists of:

Basic channels
20 a la carte
TMN
TSN HD

Beside those channels, I have to pay fees for: digital access, HD access, 2 additional terminals.

While my a la carte is 20 with Videotron and 15 with Bell Fibe, I get what I want more since they are included in the other packages.

Hercules, my estimate was based on 15 channels and no TSN HD. I also included a 3 credit for bundled services so I was not far off the 86.
So how much will you be paying with five and what is your package.

OK your Bell FiBe TV is: I rounded off to .50

$24,50 (Basic) + $15,50 (15 channels)+ $10(4 HD packs)+13,5(TMN) + 2 HD receivers Rental at $5,50 each
=$74,5

Fibe 50 in a bundle should be $40 ($85-$40(credit for 3 services)-$5 bundle credit)

So Fibe TV and Fibe Internet should be $114 after the 6 months

How much is your phone with caller ID and Call waiting? I think you can get a better deal than the 152 plus taxes after 6 months.Unless your home with caller ID and Call Waiting is about 40 bucks Check post 35 and the posts after that where Mr Waxx talks about His Fibe 50 150gigs costing $40 (normal price $85)and now Bell is offering Fibe 50 250gigs at $85 normal price.

I may be wrong but doesn't hurt to check.

rogue17,

If the number you found for me is $114, the ones you missed are time-shifting pack ($3) and home phone basic ($36). So my total supposedly is $153. Hey, the number is correct. Do you think I can get it down even lower?

I am thinking about cancelling my home phone. But if I do that I will lose $40 while gaining $36, will I not?
