It would be nice if they would give some hint as to why rates are going up at this time. I think it would be a little more palatable if they came right out and said "We are hiking rates due to the cost of adding HD Channels A,B,&C" (and hopefully E,F,G,H,...).

I've copied and pasted this directly from my e-bill:

Quote:
To maintain our network and provide you with reliable products and services you expect from Bell Aliant, there will be price increases on your first bill after July 12th. These price adjustments are driven by increased costs such as gas, vehicles, TV programming, Internet usage and other costs that are needed to run our business. The increase is on average about
$2 per month, and is on par with general inflation.

To review the price increase for your specific combination of services, please go to bellaliant.net/pricechanges. To protect your privacy you will require your telephone number, account number and the balance due from this bill to access your information
So basicly Programming, Infastructure maintence, and bandwidth, As long as they keep it unlimited and fast and uninterrupted, ....a 3.00 increase for my Bundle (Fibreop TV, Phone & internet) isn't to bad I suppose.

when it comes to the internet where aliant has no caps and no pay per use billing like rogers then IMO it is worth it. to me if it was just for the TV service then it would not be at all

Some would argue the opposite as they value more TV channels (which obviously cost teh monies) over internet. I personally am an internet nut (if it wasn't already obvious) so I err with you, McPatrick.

Default bundle comparisons

Hi Folks,

I recall seeing one of many flyers come to my home from BA re Fibrop. Without digging thru my recycling, can someone confirm seeing $99 for 6 months PLUS $100 Sobeys giftcard?

Eastlink just put my HD extra (or HD adventure) up $2 to $8.95. i was getting a discount off that , and when i said go back to the 6.95 they took away the disc i was getting. This would be on top of other concessions they are removing. (i still get to keep some discounts) Hence its time to shop.

If one factors in the $99 over 6 months its not a huge saving to jump to BA (based on the discounted package i now enjoy). The savings i would enjoy would be $5 a month. But i would lose the ability to add an external Hd to the PVR, i would lose the galaxie on screen song list feature. I know my internet will improve but that is not as important to me.

So, what are some of the deals you people are enjoying. i ran my numbers based on one extra receiver, one theme pack, and the $99 better package for 6 months going to $155.95 after 6. without confirmation of the Sobeys giftcard i did not factor it in. If i did it would sweeten things by $8.33 a month.

Thanks for your time.

I am in PEI, and we also got the same offer, 6 months at $99, and the $100 sobeys card. We went for it because my inlaws signed up for it when it was 3 months and no extra deals (sobeys) and liked what they had, and getting more.

We will save roughly 100.00 a month for the 6 months, so that and the faster Internet (was with Eastlink) was the selling points for me, my wife was big on the faster Internet and the sobeys card, we don't watch enough TV to really make a big deal one way or the other ok channels we gain or lose leaving Bell Express.
