I called and was told I couldn't rent to own the old boxes I currently have. I must get brand new cisco boxes to participate in the rent to own program. Wouldn't Rogers want me to own their old junk boxes with no warranty rather than new ones?

This is what I thought but like yyzlhr says "Rogers does not and has never charged per outlet." This make me thinking/puzzled. I wanted to know for sure.

Also does that also apply to Digital Plus like the website says (for the up 3 tv thing).

Only the in market digital plus includes free extra outlets. The older digital plus package does not.

When digital plus originally launched it did not include extra outlets. Sometime last year, I believe, they raised the price of digital plus and included extra outlets in the tier. Existing digital plus customers were grandfathered and retained the lower price but did not receive extra outlets.

Ok, so I didn't lose my mind. So if you are on the old plan and want to add an outlet, how much is it? Is it worth then going to the new plan or staying on the old one?

On the old plan it's $6.99 a month to have more than one outlet. This $6.99 is a flat fee and will cover as many outlets you want. I believe switching to the new digital plus is a few dollars cheaper than paying $6.99 on top of the old digital plus.

My 2 year, 20% discount is ending in a few weeks. When I called in to renew the discount, the CSR stated that it's no longer available and they're only offering the bundle discount (which, in my case is less). Anyone renegotiated recently (which month in 2012)? I threatened to go to retentions and the CSR said that won't work anymore, although if I find people have received more recently I may go to retentions anyway - no harm in trying...

57 I am hearing the same. Best offer was to pay $20$ per month more than I have for the last few years. Thinking I'll drop services. Bell masks their prices online or does not show details so difficult to get a true comparison so I can try to deal with Rogers CSRs.

I just read a post this week on the Rogers Facebook page about a customer who was complaining that Rogers would not offer her a better deal because she had been a customer since 1985. The deal she claimed to get was 70% off cable/Internet for two years. The Rogers rep replied that he thought it was a pretty sweet deal! Our deal is up in the fall, so I am interested in this too.

Always go straight to retentions, they ALWAYS have promotions. Regulars CSRs have NO promotions to offer you aside from regular acquisition offers that are available to anyone. Just call the 1-888-ROGERS-1 number hit option 4 to change your services punch in your number and then hit the option to cancel. This will always take you straight to retention and bypass all regular CSRs.

It always helps to actually sound like you want to cancel. Things have changed at rogers and retention reps have been coached to not offer anything unless a customer sounds like they want to cancel. Most reps are reluctant to offer promos to people who simply ask.

Thanks for the feedback. I went into a Rogers store today to take care of a few things - return STB, purchase N-Gateway, remove a channel pack that I rarely watch, etc. The counter rep was able to give me 15%. I'll see how things go for a month, review my next bill and go from there.

I feel it shouldn't be necessary to threaten to cancel in order to get a fair price - which is all I want. I realize that I may have to do this if I'm not satisfied after seeing my next bill.

I had negotiated a 30% discount (no bundle, just for cable) back in March 2011. I thought it was for 2 years, but they'd been warning me for a few months that it ended in March 2012. I had no problem calling up in March 2012 and getting them to extend it to March 2013 (by saying I thought it was for 2 years ...). We'll see how it goes next year. If they want to be a pain about it, I'll just drop back to Basic Digital from VIP - which would mean I'm paying less than I am now.

It's pretty much like buying a car these days. Your haggling ability counts for a lot.

I had a 20% discount on my Digital Plus package which recently expired. I called and asked what was available as a replacement. I wasn't threatening to cancel but I was immediately connected with Retention and after some discussion was offered a 15% discount on the VIP package and free rental of my PVR
