Default Neverland on Space

Neverland is a two-night, four-hour miniseries starrring Bob Hoskins, Charlie Rowe, Keira Knightley, and Rhys Ifans which premieres Sunday, Dec. 18 and Monday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on SPACE and SPACE HD.

In Neverland, a young boy named Peter and his streetwise gang is magically swept away from the back alleys of turn-of-the-century London to a realm of legendary mystery and adventure. Set in part on the streets of Dickensian London as well as the enchanting parallel universe of Neverland, viewers will discover the origins of Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Croc, The Lost Boys, The Indians and Tinker Bell.

In Part One, orphaned Peter and his friends survive the streets of London as pickpockets. Following directions from their mentor, Jimmy Hook, the boys are to snatch a priceless – some say, magical – crystal orb hidden away in an antique store known for precious artifacts. When the boys find the orb they discover that it is home to a winged fairy named Tinker Bell as well as a portal to another world. Through the orb, Hook, Peter and the boys are magically transported into Neverland, a fantastic realm of white jungles and legendary adventure where unknown dangers and enemies await the new travelers.

The show stars Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill) as Captain Hook, Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) as Elizabeth Bonny, Bob Hoskins (Hook, Snow White and the Huntsman) reprising his role as Smee from Steven Speilberg’s hit film Hook, Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean) as the voice of Tinker Bell, and Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go) as Peter.

Thumbs down

I watched the first part on Sunday but my interest waned towards the end; the premise was compelling enough, but the bad acting, worse writing and cheesy special effects took me out of it.
