Cool Rear Speaker Stands - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

Was looking for rear stands and found what I think are the coolest looking ones with concrete bases at Ikea. Check it out at www.ikea.ca (sorry couldn't figure out how to attach picture). Its called the Jutis and is only $40. The legs are very skinny so you'll probably need to separate the 2 speaker cables and feed one up each leg.

Pretty decent looking and nice price, but those are, I think, very small speakers they're showing, so I'm not sure how it would handle larger ones (specs say 2KG max load, which isn't much at all)

I use two 6' (72") x 12" x 12" Mylex Economy Tower Bookcases to hold my 11 kg (24 lbs) rear speakers at the proper height. The Mylex 6' Tower Bookcases uses very little floor area (12" x 12"). They have 2 fixed and 4 (website say 3) adjustable/removable shelves. The 2 fixed shelves are at the bottom (for strength). Note: Assembly required. The inside can accommodate a WxD of about 10.5" x 11.75". You can buy them at Staples Business Depot. Their online buying website only has the Maple version, but in the store you can also choose black, cherry, green, and albany oak. See "http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...affixedcode=WW".

I have those but shorter ones... I got 3 way speakers on them... I'll post a picture when I get home tomorrow

it's a 8" woofer

The tubes are big enough to run both + and - in one tube... Let me know if you have anymore questions

I was looking at those shelves when you suggested them to my in another thread. It looks like they're out of stock on the website so you can't get ANY of them online. It looks like a long-term shortage since it's been that way for a while now. I guess I'll have to find someone with a car to help me pick them up, if they're even available in the store anymore.

Right now I have my surrounds propped up on 2 other speakers so they're at a decent height, but I really need those other speakers for the basement.

Hi Splash, those look pretty nice. I have mine on hardwood flooring as well. I was going to run the speaker wire through the white wire housing that Ikea used to sell which sticks along the baseboard but I found out Ikea no longer sells the stuff. I ended up drilling holes into the quarter round next to the baseboard behind the tv and next to the rear speakers with the wires running through the unfinished basement. You may want to try it out as it gives a nice clean wireless look.

Why not go with a wall braket. Personaly I like them better, cleaner look.
The wire runs up the wall in tubing (from Ikea) that is paintable, though I havn't painted them.

I have the Ikea brakets, but I havn;t seen them in store for a while or on-line at all. FS sells a wall braket as well from AR(?).
