The postal code trick worked!! I use Entropay for Netflix and Vudu but couldn't get Hulu Plus to work at all.
I just tried the postal code trick with a VISA and it worked right away. |

@elec999, here is a list of U.S. Zip codes. It doesn't seem there are any Zip codes that start with 529. The list is actually from the U.S. Census, but they basically use the same codes with a few exceptions.
Note: this link will open a large text file in your browser. http://www.census.gov/tiger/tms/gazetteer/zips.txt A sample looks like this: "01","35004","AL","ACMAR",86.51557,33.584132,6055,0.0014 99 "01","35005","AL","ADAMSVILLE",86.959727,33.588437,10616,0.0 02627 The second field is the zip code, so you can find any 3-digit zip prefix by using your browser's FIND feature. Press Ctrl-F and type in a quote symbol ("), followed by the 3 digits. The quote ensures you won't find a random 3-digit number elsewhere in the file. |

With few exceptions, states are assigned zip code ranges. However, 529 isn't assigned to anything because it's in between Iowa (500-528) and Wisconsin (530-549). Likewise, if you live in a rural area, this trick probably won't work since there's no zip codes starting with 00 .
In this case, since 529xx doesn't reveal any valid zip codes, a one-off might work. If you setup a prepaid Visa with the postal code X5S2W8 , which will be directly across the street from you, you can use zip codes in Davenport IA (52802 - 52807). |

I can confirm this trick also works with Vudu. My entropay virtual Visa was declined by Vudu recently so I tried this trick and it worked.
I'm using this Postal Code trick successfully with Vudu, Hulu Plus and Netflix using an RBC Visa. |

Has anyone been able to signup that are in rural...specifically with a translated zip code that would start with a 0?
My translated zip code would have to start with 010 which is obviously not the start of a valid zip code. I tried 10001 and that didnt work so im at a loss as to what i can try. Edit: I didnt know this but there are zip codes in the USA that start with 0 I simply entered 01001 and it worked Thank you! Last edited by BinaryMan; 2012-12-16 at 08:46 PM. |

I got this postal code trick to work for me as well for my PC browser.
How come I can't find the app for the PS3, or the Android? Is it because those devices are registered in Canada (I think my PS3 is - Android devices for sure). Even while connecting these two devices through wifi using a VPN, they don't show up. |

To get out of country apps on your PS3 you need to create a PSN account for this service countries, simply add a user to your PS3 and when if asks what country you select the appropriate one. Once the account is setup you'll see the apps available for that country.
Google Play is setup differently so the easiest way to get the Hulu app is to download the app file from somewhere on the Internet. |

I found out that you can't change the country which your PS3 account is in initially, which is asinine. So if you really do move, you lose all your credentials (like trophies and such) as you'd have to create a new account.
I did download Hulu from a website for my Android tablet, and while I did log in and things showed up, when I eventually tried to play something, it Geo-blocked me, even though I'm using wi-fi right now and going through a VPN for the Internet at home. How come? EDIT: I just created an account with an American address for the PS3, got Hulu Plus downloaded from the PS Store (before it never even showed up), went to use it, and stated I was out of the US! Again, how come? Shouldn't every wifi device be going through my VPN? |

Are you certain that your wifi is connected to the VPN. Check your iP address online somewhere.
You could also try a free trial at unblockus, it's easy to setup in the router. I prefer it over a VPN. |

Well, I guess the wifi devices aren't going through the VPN, as I just checked my IP address on my tablet! I did enable PPTP and IPSec (VPN) on my router, but I guess that didn't work. What else would I need to do (are there quick instructions out there)... I have a Dlink DIR-655 router.

I think you might need to use two routers, that's the way I had mine set up. I used a tutorial on the VPNauthority website. It had some drawbacks because my home network had two subnets which made networking difficult. I had two wifi signals, one for U.S and the other for Canada. Streaming media through the vpn wasn't always fast, max speed I could get was about 6mbps. Using unblockus really simplified things, you should give it a try and save yourself the headaches.
